Summary

‘A perfect contradiction, existing in the shades of grey that real life is so often painted in . . . A story that’s as furious as it is tender’ Emily Henry

‘A roar of rage, a pacy page-turner, I loved it with all my broken heart. Read it. You’ll love it’ Marian Keyes

Nessa: The Seeker

Jo: The Protector

Harriett: The Punisher

With newfound powers the time has come to take matters into their own hands…

Widowed Nessa lives alone in her house near the ocean. In the quiet hours, she hears voices belonging to the dead – who will only speak to her.

On the cusp of fifty Harriett’s marriage and career imploded, but her life is far from over – in fact, she’s undergone a stunning metamorphosis.

Jo spent years at war with her body. The rage that arrived with menopause felt like the last straw – until she discovers she’s able to channel it.

Guided by voices only Nessa can hear, the trio discover the abandoned body of a teenage girl. The police have written off the victim. But the women have not. Their own investigations lead to more bodies, and a world of wealth where the rules don’t apply – and the realisation that laws are designed to protect villains, not the vulnerable.

Now three women will avenge the innocent and punish the guilty. IT’S TIME.

Great stiry

The fact that the amazing January Lavoy narrated this, made it ten times better, but what a great story. I fell in love with the women in this story, and I have written down so many great quotes.

Great fun and easy listening, excellent narration

This is a great fun story and the narration is excellent. Really enjoyed it. It’s a bit silly and OTT at times but really enjoyed it and would recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Enjoyed reading a book where the main characters are me (50ish woman going through 'the change', not a witch sadly). Hope there are more to come.

Bewitching!

Characters maybe a tad caricatured (likeable v’s various shades of horrific) but the main three’s kinship was comforting & the fact that they grew together was an added positive. Not all men were portray as potential serial killers (though a lot were abusive in various degrees). Rather than being man-hating it was female-affirming & a thoroughly engaging read. Moreover, the story’s central “problem” almost undoubtedly owes it’s credentials to actual headline news & revelations from the me too movement. Definitely worth a read.

Brilliant

A refreshing take on ageing. This story addressed the biggest fears for women and girls while empowering the older generation to stand up and make a change.

Nora Roberts Meets Liane Moriarty

🧡 I had my hat, my cauldron and my broomstick all ready for this one. I had recently listened to Juno Dawson’s Her Majesty’s Royal Coven and wanted more in the same vein. I had arrived at the wrong audiobook. But all was not lost.

💚 This is more like Big Little Lies as if written by Nora Roberts. There’s a trio of women, a massive sinister plot and magic. I’ll go into the reasons you should listen to this in a moment. But first, I’ll just say that what didn’t quite work for me was the tone. As with the works of Roberts, it’s a bit too saccharine for my cold, dead British soul. And the messaging is very much in the hit-over-head style. Now for the good stuff.

💜 Listen to this for the totally addictive plot, which has more twists and turns than my hair in humid weather; for the badass women, and for the dose of justice in an unjust world.

SOUNDBITE

🎧 I’m not sure how, but I’ve never listened to January LaVoy before this. Her performance is reminiscent of Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong) in Desperate Housewives. Her voice has a rich, luxuriant quality that feels like swimming in melted chocolate.

🎧 Overall, just good fun. I found it easy to differentiate characters and felt immersed in the story.

The Perfect Novel

Great narration, characters that are well defined, good locations. A lot to enjoy while writing about crushing topics. Highly recommended.
