Summary

A glamorous and thrilling book from Shari Low and Ross King.

They’ve made it to the top but someone is determined to make them pay...

At a glittering after-party on the night of the Academy Awards, author Mirren McLean celebrates her win with her childhood friends Davie Johnston and Zander Leith by her side.

Three kids from a tough street in Glasgow, the dazzling trio rose from the ashes to become Hollywood stars with global fame and vast fortunes.

This is their moment in the spotlight.

But by morning, there’s only darkness.

A secret from their past has come back to haunt them and the shield of stardom can’t protect them from the horrors of their old lives.

Someone is out to destroy them… and unlike the movies, there’s no guarantee that the good guys will win.

An exciting next instalment of the glamorous thriller for the fans of Taylor Jenkins Reid, Liane Moriarty and Jo Spain.

Hollywood glitz at its best

Pacy plot, surprisingly relatable characters and enough action mixed up with the glamour to make you suspend your disbelief all the way through. Great escapism.

Definitely definitely recommended

Knew I’d love this book after listening to book 1 in the the series, but this one is even better. The twists and turns in the plot are endless, didn’t see a lot of them coming, there were just so many “Oh here we go” moments that I couldn’t stop listening. Packed full of laughs too despite the darker side of the story and so well delivered by Ross King, whit a turn of phrase, ye cannae help yersel laughing. I’m fast becoming a fan of his. Helen McAlpine was brilliant as always, can’t imagine listening to anyone else reading a Shari Low book.
OK, so I’m sounding a bit sycophantic now, that’s the high you get when you’ve just finished a brilliant book.

Jackie Collins meets Ray Donovan!

Brilliant fun, drama and mystery peppered with raunchiness and humour. Picks up the baton from Jackie Collins and Jilly Cooper and runs with it. Excellently narrated, especially as one is the co author Ross King. This is the second in a trilogy, listen to “The Rise” first, which is free!

Loved the1st book, loved this more!

This was a great book and Ross did a good job narrating it. It had drama, intrigue, suspense, laughter, sad & happy emotional moments and all in all it seemed to be a bit lighter than the first book..ooh, actually, I’ve just had a flashback, scrap that, nope, not lighter than the 1st, just as entertaining though.” Can you squeeze a 3rd out please 🙏🏼

Five star follow up

Loved the first book and the characters and this is just great - with the best narrators (thank goodness it’s not always the case!!)
The real Glasgow accents and a cracking story that goes along at a pace, no boring old rubbish here.
On to the next one.

I do enjoy the read…

… I just always get the sense that the plots could be way more twisty. So much more could be added. Like Mirren’s mum. That could have been explored more in depth; why go to all the lengths of going to LA etc and never facing Mirren. You know with that ego she wanted to… ahhh well, on to the final book!!!

unexpectedly great

I didn't expect to like a book about film starts etc, but the back story is brilliant, I read the first book too and have been gripped by both. I have felt so emotional during parts of these books which caught me off guard.
Just great.

Good but not a patch on the first !

Constantly filling in what occurred in the first book , in case the reader had not listened to The Rise !
Became tedious !
Still good but not a patch on the first .
