Summary

If you love stories set in the Wild West, you'll enjoy the third book of the Sherlock and Me series. Set in Reno, Nevada, and nearby Pyramid Lake on the Paiute Indian Reservation, the story features Lucy James, newly minted PI. She's been hired to find a missing truck driver and a missing horse. The first case takes her into the shadowy world of truck cargo thefts. An experienced truck driver never makes it to his intended destination on his route creating panic for his new fiancé.

In the second case, a beautiful horse belonging to a special needs child is spooked during a thunderstorm one night and disappears on the high desert landscape of Pyramid Lake, an ancient lake filled with secrets and myths. Lucy tackles her cases as she always does - with deductive reasoning like her mentor, Sherlock Holmes.

With support from her faithful roommate, Cindy and trusty dog, Baskerville, the mysteries begin to unravel the deeper in she goes. Lucy's gut instincts are sharper than ever. She's motivated and willing to do whatever is necessary to find the little boy's horse and her new friend's fiancé. Irrepressible. Tenacious. Unique. That's Lucy James.

Just gets better and better

I loved this book. The title did put me off slightly but I enjoyed the previous books in this series so I had to give it ago. Glad I did, unlike the title suggests there is no super natural feel to this story at all, in fact it gets it title from an Indian legend and that is the extent of it, so don't let it put you off if syfi isn't your thing. It's in fact a great little mystery with the main character working two very different cases. One of the cases did tug at the heart strings but then I cry at Disney films, having said that it is a fun light hearted mystery with humour, glamour and cowboys. The characters are what makes this series so much fun, I mean who else could set up a detective office and end up with more customers looking for the pawn shop next door than her service's, it's a good job she still works in the cinema. With all the books in the series Sherlock Holmes is a nice theme of role model for the main character to emulate and adds fun to the adventure in the form of Baskerville her dog. Off to start the next book.
Lucy is hired for her very first case as a private detective to track down a run away horse belonging to a special needs boy. A city girl at heart she knows nothing about horses, so enlists the help of a tracker. Everybody in town knows the horse and who it belongs to and they all say the same thing there is only one person mean enough to keep or kill the horse. They also say that Lucy should stay as far away from him as possible as he is not only dangerous but crazy. At the same time A lady of the night walks into her office looking to sell her toys and instead strikes up a friendship with Lucy over her mistake. In her your of need she turns to Lucy when her truck driving fiancee goes missing with his cargo. Can Lucy track down a lost horse and A missing man?
I liked the narrator. She helps to sell the story with her pleasant and clear voice.
