Summary

Winner of the British Book Awards, Lifetime Achievement Award, 2007.

With fourteen years left on a twenty-year sentence, notorious Washington powerbroker Joel Blackman receives a surprise pardon from a lame duck President. He is smuggled out of the country on a military cargo plane, given a new identity, and tucked away in a small town in Italy. But Backman has serious enemies from his past. As the CIA watches him closely, the question is not whether he will be killed, but rather who will kill him first.

Most certainly a 5 star story

I am fairly new to audio books and mainly listen at work. Before The Broker I had listened to a few other stories, but always found myself realising that I had missed entire chapters while my mind wandered elsewhere. With The Broker I was hooked from the start and listened intently to every word. It's extremly well written and really well read.
I very much recommend that you give this one a try!

Disappointing

I have read previous novels by this author, which I found very interesting and exciting. I was therefore expecting much more from this book.
Sadly this is far from his usual high standard.

Abridged

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

This is one of my favourite John Grisham books that imo should not be abridged.

A Good Read (Listen)

Not one of my favourite JG books but still a decent read. I listened to it on a long drive to London and it did help alleviate a tedious drive.
