Ellie, bereft of the faith she grew up with, is a single mom living in a tired apartment trying to make ends meet. Hope for lives traumatised by violence and the care system

Summary
From the New York Times best-selling author of Someone Like You, Karen Kingsbury's heartwarming story about two couples, love lost and found, and the miracle that saved a bookstore is also the basis for a Hallmark Channel movie.
Number one New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury has written a modern-day classic with this unforgettable love story set against the struggle of the American bookstore.
Molly Allen lives alone in Portland, but she left her heart back in Tennessee when she walked away from Ryan five years ago. They had a rare sort of love she hasn’t found since. Ryan Kelly lives in Nashville after a broken engagement and several years on the road touring with a country music duo. Sometimes when he’s lonely, he visits The Bridge - the oldest bookstore in historic downtown Franklin - and remembers the hours he and Molly once spent there.
For over four decades, Charlie and Donna Barton have run The Bridge, providing customers with coffee, conversation, and shelves of classics - even through dismal sales and the rise of digital books. Then the hundred-year flood sweeps through Franklin and destroys everything. The bank is about to pull the store’s lease when tragedy strikes. Can two generations of readers rally together to save The Bridge? And is it possible that an unforgettable love might lead to the miracle of a second chance?

different reason for listening to a book
First time author for me, my reasons for listening to this book are different than the norm. I was recently watching a Hallmark movie by the same name, 'The Bridge'. The story line on the movie was that a young couple was reunited after seven years. I'm watching the movie and they hadn't even broken up yet. The longer the movie goes on I'm thinking the reunion is going to be pretty short. Then right at the end of the movie a graphic comes up saying to be continued Christmas 2016' I decided I didn't want to wait that long and bought the book.
It's a fairly short book, 4 hours of listening, in print it must be like a novella. The Bridge itself is a bookstore and the owners have fallen on hard times. Many old customers come to the rescue, including the two the story is based on, and figure out what went wrong. It is a make you feel good kind of story. I'm glad I didn't wait a year.

heart warming, make you smile book
What did you love best about The Bridge?
This book was a pleasant surprise. I have "read" most of Karen Kingsbury's books and this is one of my favorites. The characters are well developed and I could relate to each one is some way. The book quickly draws you in and keeps you involved in these peoples lives. I am waiting for the next one in this series. I hope Karen writes it soon. Can't wait.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Maybe Charlie. I love how generous he is and how he focuses on people not money. His business way successful inspite of this focus.
Any additional comments?
The prequel is worth the listen, either before of after this book.

easy listening
This is a good Christian romance novel. As with most, predictable, but still enjoyable. The narrator's male voice was a bit strange, but I appreciated the attempt to differentiate the voices of characters. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweet story and easy read/listening. It was a great book for the gym.

A Beautiful story that I will listen to again
What did you love best about The Bridge?
I went it this thinking I might not like it since the reviews were so mixed. I had seen the movie and loved it, which is why I bought the book. It touched my heart and had me in tears, and by the way, I am work listening to this. The entire story touched me so it is not just one thing.
What other book might you compare The Bridge to and why?
I am not good with reviews and remembering things that I like so I am not sure how to describe any other books that are possibly comparable.
Have you listened to any of January LaVoy’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is my first time hearing January LaVoy and I feel she did a very good job. I was able to distinguish the characters and well I was crying so yeah she got the feeling of the story with her interpretations.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Like I stated earlier, it made me cry and it made me happy and it strengthened my faith.
Any additional comments?
After this story that I enjoyed so thoroughly I will have to try more of Karen Kingsbury's books. She has a way of touching her readers and I enjoy a book that does that.
