Have you ever wondered what it was like for Eve to be the first woman, created as an adult but with the mind of a child? What must it have been like for Deborah to be the only female judge in Israel’s history? Ever considered how Esther felt about being chosen as queen in the ungodly kingdom of Persia - particularly when she’d have to share her husband with a harem? What must Mary and Martha have thought when their brother Lazarus had died, and it looked to them like Jesus was not coming?

Years ago, the day before Ellie moved from Georgia to California, she and her best friend, Nolan, sat beneath the Spanish moss of an ancient oak tree where they wrote letters to each other, and sealed them in a rusty old metal box. The plan was to return 11 years later and read them. But now, as that date arrives, much has changed. Ellie, bereft of the faith she grew up with, is a single mom living in a tired apartment trying to make ends meet. Sometimes she watches television to catch a glimpse of her old friend - Nolan, now an NBA star, whose terrible personal tragedies fueled his faith and athletic drive in equal measure.

Hugely Disappointed
Having just listened to Redeeming Love and Scarlet thread and being absolutely captivated, I was delighted to find the Lineage of Grace series has been condensed into one book for one credit.. Wonderful... But oh my I have returned it as the narration is dreadful; diction is shocking, barely any change in character voices, stilted and dull... such a shame, it could have been wonderful.

This book restored my hope in God
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found it captivating and it also helped me to see things from the perspectives of others in the bible. One thing I can take away is that God always has a plan and situations work out for the good of those who love Him. This is possibly the best book I’ve read in years.

Francine Rivers is always worth a read
I have never regretted reading a Francine Rivers book and she makes understanding the Biblical stories relatable and easy. However, the narrator was very disappointing. Too many words (English words, not Biblical words) were mispronounced, annoyingly so. I expect the narrator to have read the book before recording it and sought pronunciations beforehand. Eg, surreptitiously, especially, and a wealth of other words I cannot remember off hand. Plus there was a lot of repetition of sentences, which was disruptive, and some sentences that were not completed. This is probably the editing of the recording rather than the narrator.
I almost returned the book (and haven't finished reading the 4th one yet) but the storylines redeemed it. Anyone who will find the constant errors grating, would be better off purchasing a hard copy.

Good story
Good story. It was close to the Bible, no unnecessary events or unrealistic character traits. It's great that the lineage of Christ was so highlighted. It's a story of great repentance and immeasurable grace.
But the narration was poor. Her normal voice was ok, but when she attempted to do a certain voice...she nailed the old annoying aunt or the whiny girl voices:)

Entrancing Story, Compelling, Stirring Performance
I've never read the books, but only became introduced to Francine Rivers by this audio book. I am intrigued.
At first, I had concerns. There are savage reviews of this work on here; I was alarmed that such cold, heartless comments could have been written by people of faith! I listened to the sample and became confused- are these reviews about the same work? I was drawn in by the warm and friendly voice of the narrator, so I bought it.
Oh my, I was blown away! A story that I've known but never really thought much about: this beautiful narration brought me fully into the story from an angle I've never even dreamed- characters not only came to life, but the world in which they lived- each scene was played out with such description, such detail! I could close my eyes and just listen to the story living out through these very human people that encountered challenges that I can't comprehend, but now can somehow relate to. Wonderful.
The performance was fantastic! You could feel what the characters felt, she aptly phrased the story through emotion, pause, and intent. It didn't feel like someone was reading a story to me, I was listening to the story play out through such a stirring voice that I feel like I know these characters. Bravo to the narrator!
I'm hooked, simply hooked.
Don't listen to the naysayers on these reviews- I don't know what work they're referring to, but it simply cannot be this one.

I strongly suggest the book. The narrator Winona has done a great job on the voices for each individual in the book. She has a wonderful voice that makes it a joy to listen to. The author has done her home work about the culture in the time each story would have taken place and it is written very well. What a well written and narrated book. You will enjoy it.

Can't stand the narrator! I was SO disappointed!
I was looking forward to listening to this book, and since I was excited, I made the mistake of not listening to a sample first of the narrator, as I normally do. I just purchased the book. But I couldn't even make it through the first chapter. The narrator sounds like a high school girl, and I kept expecting her to say "Like NO way! It's just, like, so RAD, you know what I mean?!". The way she speaks/reads DOES not work for a book that is set during biblical times - AT ALL - in my opinion. Another audio book ruined by the wrong narrator. :(
I will be returning the book, and maybe someday, Francine Rivers will choose a good narrator for this book, and I can actually listen to it.

Oh, man!
I am a huge fan of Francine Rivers. Her books are beautifully written and encourage the reader to walk with the characters of her books.
The narration of this book is horrendous. The miss-pronunciation of words, audibly hearing the narrator clearing her throat, silly accents that come and go, the list is too great.
It saddens my heart that this beautifully written work wasn't given the due it deserves. I hope you can sit thru the cringing narration and listen the stories.
I am praying this will be redone by someone better in the near future. Oh, man!
