Summary
People often think of Job sitting on the ash heap, his life in shambles. But how did he get there? What was Job's life like before tragedy struck? What did he think as his world came crashing down around him? And what was life like after God restored his wealth, health, and family?
Through painstaking research and a writer's creative mind, Mesu Andrews weaves an emotional and stirring account of this well-known story told through the eyes of the women who loved him. Drawing together the account of Job with those of Esau's tribe and Jacob's daughter Dinah, Love Amid the Ashes breathes life, romance, and passion into the classic biblical story of suffering and steadfast faith.

I can't wait for each book they are all so fabulous! I wasn't sure I'd enjoy reading about Job but she won me over and helped me understand the Bible story I love the research she puts into every character and maybe that's why it's so hard to say goodbye to them at the end

Love Amid the Ashes
I really enjoy biblical fiction—not as much as I love the Bible—but it somehow causes me to want to study the Bible more. This tale had me very curious about how Diana would meet up with Job. In the end, the author shows her research so it isn’t such a stretch of the imagination. It was a lovely story of perseverance and faith along with some love stories as well. Light reading for these challenging times we presently face.

Culturally flawed
I understand the writer tries to create a story that happened thousands of years ago. The interaction however between man and women is just too western minded and culturally impossible. Also what nerved me in this story was that Jacob is portrayed as an unforgiving nasty old man who acts cold and heartless towards his daughter Dina. This is an insult to the real meek person of Jacob who is a type of the Messiah. Book is quite boring at points and just not trustworthy, as the women here are the “saviours” of Job. Not recommended at all.

Not accurate for the time or the Bible
The author is just telling a story, not truly following the Biblical account of Jacob, or Esau, or Job. Job is not a part of Jacob's story. It is not even about a different interpretation of the story of Job. This novel is focused on Western ideas and belief not ancient or current Middle Eastern culture. Also, it seems to be focused on women, with the main character a woman not mentioned in the Bible. Another issue is that the main female is "BLONDE"! REALLY?! Why can't the culture of the people represented be true. A beautiful dark hair woman. I felt like it author was told various stories as a child and is trying to repeat them from memory.
As a story allow, it is a good story with the idea of pointing the audience to God, maybe. The story is about people doing things to help Job, rather than acknowledging the story is not about what Job did to or for others, it is all about God. Please read the Bible for accurate stories.

character deception
The story in itself was fine, not great. I don't think I can barely remember the description of JOB because of the grandeur of Dinahs beautiful blue eyes and blonde hair. The redundancy of her beautiful , delicate, non Arabian femininity was pounded into the story line.
