Summary

A forgotten secret. A shocking discovery. A sacrifice of love that will bring Connor Evans to his knees.

A story of hope and redemption from number one New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury.

Airline pilot Connor Evans and his wife, Michele, seem to be the perfect couple living what looks like a perfect life. Then, a plane goes down in the Pacific Ocean. One of the casualties is Kiahna Siefert, a flight attendant Connor knew well. Too well. Kiahna’s will is very clear: Before her seven-year-old son, Max, can be turned over to the state, he must spend the summer with the father he’s never met, the father who doesn’t know he exists - Connor Evans. Now, will the presence of one lonely child and the truth he represents destroy Connor’s family? Or is it possible for healing and hope to appear in the shape of a seven-year-old boy?

Easy listening

First experience of Karen Kingsbury.

The story has minimum plot expansion, the characters are wholly predictable and rather one dimensional, the narrators voice grated on me to a degree...however..if you don't particularly want to think, just listen to words that are not taxing to the brain at all, (which was exactly what I needed when I listened to this title) it does the job. Pleasant enough, which is why I have rated it a three star..if I could have given it a 2 1/2 I would. Infact I am going to try another of her books just to see whether her plots/characters have more depth.

Great Christian novel

This is a great novel for Christian listeners who like God-centred fiction with a well thought-out storyline and true to life characters. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this novel and having been close to someone who went through a similar situation, I thought Karen Kingsbury captured the emotions in a very realistic way. It was beautifully narrated and I was sad to finish the story.
Non-Christians would probably find the emphasis on a relationship with God rather heavy going and even confusing at times but I enjoyed every minute of it.

You think you hit the bottom in life? Now what?

If you have ever done something that you think is too horrible that you could never forgive yourself..than you need to listen to this book! This book has an incredible plot and story line that draws you into every detail. I couldn't stop listening to it! The characters are described with such accuracy that you feel as though you know them personally. The plot of this story is so relevant to our society, because many are facing some of the same issues..SEXUAL DESIRE..the need for ACCEPTANCE..ADULTRY..FORGIVENESS.. This story covers all these topics plus more. But most of all it gives you a reason to hope. You might think that the situation you are in is too horrible and complex to get fixed. But if the characters in this book can have hope through their unreal circumstances, so can you!

The reader ruins this story.!

I don't know that I can stand another 5 hours. This is easily the worst book I have ever listened to. It sounds like a family of munchkins recorded it.If you enjoy breathless baby-talk (even by the adult characters), you might enjoy this book. Another thing to know is that this novel has a incongruous religious thread running through it. If that bothers you in a novel, don't bother with this one. It's a real stinker. After 6 hours, the characters are still shallow and poorly developed. I tried to give it zero stars, but Audible doesn't recognize it.

Wonderful story, but the saddest I've ever read!

This great story had me crying most of the way through the book. It is very touching and deals with the emotions of a young boy orphaned and hoping to find a home.

Deep as a dinner plate

and dumber than dirt. If all the religious talk were edited out of this book, it would be about an hour long. The constant refrences to God and Jesus were redundant and shallow. Not only that, they were repetitious and not very deep.

Beautifully written and superbly narrated

I am reminded of the fruit of the Spirit. It is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, All of these in this story so beautifully portrayed in the characters.

The author draws your heart so close to the little boy who struggles with sorrow, holding on to his mother's love, patiently waiting, trusting her that what she has told him about God is true. That He is faithfull no matter what.

This story brought out emotions in my soul that I know will remind of the importance of forgiveness, for without it love is hidden and unable to allow us to fly in the way God intented.

Like every other Karen Kingsbury book I have read or listened too, this one far exceeded my expectations. Excellent book and I highly recommend!
