Wingy main character

Very annoying and wingy main character. Completely improbable storyline. The husband is painfully stupid. The worst of Boland’s books I’ve listened to. I fast forwarded to the end and was relieved when I reached it.

A bit silly and too far fetched at times.

I try not to give anything away when I review a book as I hate it when someone puts ‘rubbish ending’ or ‘she dies in the end’ so I’ll just say that it’s got a very silly protagonist telling the story. I wanted to shake her & say stop being so dopey. I finished it but that was mainly in respect to the excellent narrator.

Has Shalini read / watched fifty shades of grey ?

The Best Friend I had somewhat guessed just under halfway through listening to this one from Shalini whst the outcome would be some what. when the fostering and adoption came into the book a jealous other child who had been in foster care and overlooked for another one. Of course there are vast differences in books I won't say too much for it to be a spoiler alert. I still quite enjoyed it not nearly as much as some of the others but still a decent listen. narration was fantastic as always from Katie villa

kept me interested

Great setting, storyline, character development. Flowed very easy and kept my interest. This is the typical badgirl / good girl storyline but was told in a refreshing way.

Enjoyable read

Good story and narrator kept me interested. Maybe a little predictable but still worth the credit.

Good but....

Overall good book that kept me listening and engaged in the story. It is Shalini Boland's usual style, which I like very much and does not disappoint in that way. I don't want to say much because I hate a spoiler, but a husband who doesn't stand by his wife more than this one does, is not a "good man". I would want to find someone better to spend my life with than one who turns his back when you need him most and is too stupid and blind to see when his wife and son are being mistreated. That part just didn't work for me.

The ending!!

I could not stop listening! I was dream in from the first sentence. Another case of things are not always as they seem. So many twists! I figured some of it out but the end was not what I expected. Loved it. Shalani Boland’s book are great!
