Linked up and logged into the deadly VMMORPG Sword Art Online in both the real and virtual worlds, Kirito is stuck in a hell of one man's making and, like everyone else, unable to escape until the game is beaten. But while some players are crippled by fear and others throw themselves into completing the game, still others relax into everyday life in the face of their cruel predicament and live to the best of their ability...laughing, crying, but always enjoying the game. Among them are four women who make a mark upon the solo adventurer that Kirito has become: Silica, the beast-tamer; Lisbeth, the blacksmith; Yui, the mysterious orphan; and the tragic Sachi, never to be forgotten by the black swordsman....

Nice story direction could have been better

I enjoyed this audio book a lot.

The storys where fun to listen to and both cherami leigh and Bryce papenbrook did a fantastic job.

The short side stories made it easier to listen in short sessions wich was very nice for me.

However this book doesn't make optimal use of two people reading it. There are chapters read bye cherami leigh and in those chapters she performs both the female and the Male voices. The same can be said for the chapters Bryce read they both give everything they have but it's not possible for a mala or female achter to 100% acuratly mimic a voice of the oposite gender. I would recommend to let cherami leigh perform the female voices and Bryce perform the Male voices that way these audio books will be even better than they are now. If you want a example of how this can be done briljantlyI recommend th colorworld series where cherami leigh also perform a lot of voices.

A smaller thing is that (atleast on Audible) the book is only cut in to chapters. These character numbers don't mach the reality however. Chapter 1 is begin credits and chapter 20 ending credits but this isn't specified. Even more iritating however is the fact that because this book not only has chapters but also seperate storys with all of them beginning bye chapter 1 again it's very difficult to find a specif chapter in a specific side Story because of the chapter numbering. I recommend changing this if possible. What makes this situation even wors is the fact that other yen audio books don't have this problem(Overlord volume 1 for example also has parts and chapters and those are clearly specified on the navigation screen ).

Conclusion

This audio book is very fun to listen to the voice performance is good and emotion come through very well.

However it's not flawless navigation through the book isn't easy because the chapter numbering isn't correct wich is made even wors because of the fact that the book consist of multiple side stories.

Most importantly however cherami leigh and Bryce papenbrook don't work in unisen through out the book to record the voices fit for there specific voices. Instead they record intire chapters seperate from eachoter and in those chapters they perform all character voices wich can be done much better.

I am confident that those problems can be fixed in later audio books and I really hope this is going to be the case.

just like the anime

I've watched the anime and every line spoken I could envisage the correlating scenes, great narrating from both.

Better than book 1

This production was better than book one as it actually fills in a few blanks and grants some character Development and introspectives and perspectives of other characters. Now if they made a production version where they merged the two into one book with the chapters in chronological order…

The performance is better in this book, I preferred Cherami Leigh as a narrator. I cant give it more than three though as Bruce Papenbrook struggles to be convincing. Especially as a female character.
