Summary

For 12 years, the virtual world of Yggdrasil has served as the playground and battlefield for the skeletal lord Momonga and his guild of fellow monsters, Ainz Ooal Gown. But the guild's glory days are over, and the game is shutting down permanently. When Momonga logs in one last time just to be there when the servers go dark, something happens - and suddenly, fantasy is reality. A rogues' gallery of fanatically devoted NPCs is ready to obey his every order, but the world Momonga now inhabits is not the one he remembers. The game may be over, but the epic tale of Ainz Ooal Gown is only beginning....

Superb storytelling and production

I've always been a fan of the light novels and the anime, and now I must put this right up alongside the light novels, the storytelling was outstanding. I can't wait for volume 2.

Light Novels are way to go!

Oh my goodness, if there was one thing I was missing from Audiobook's was a proper Light Novel adaptation. Overlord is an amazing piece of the story that came from Japan and I will recommend it to every single person who enjoyed watching Anime or reading Mangas. It is not your common Fantasy, it is something more.

Nearly a perfect performance

I truly love the story of Overlord and it's story is massively interesting to hear finally in an English Audiobook, the only problem I have with it is that Chris Guerrero has half the cast of male leading voices sound exactly like Ains.

If he could tweak that a tiny bit I'd think this a perfect performance.

Overlord is Pretty Good

As a fan of fantasy novels, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I believe that, despite the lack of content in this edition, there will be more in the following books, and it contains fantastic political detail in comparison to some other novels I can think of. The Magic, while simple, is done well, and the book does a good job of describing the characters to provide an in-depth description. While the story may be slow at times, it makes up for it in sheer quality and detail.

The narrator, on the other hand, is a fantastic, trained, and possibly one of the best choices for this book, as the original English Dubbed voice actor for the Anime TV Show. He perfectly voices Ainz, but every now and then I get confused about who is Ainz and who just has a deep/old voice. However, the minor flaw has no bearing on Chris's overall performance.

When you got isekai'd without noticing it

Already watched the Overlord anime series and was amazed on the narration of the audiobook itself. What an impressive narrator!
