Summary

In a powerless world, only the strong will survive the lawless....

After an EMP cripples the country, Colby and Alicia embark on the dangerous trek out of the city to survive. On the treacherous journey home to Humboldt County, a deadly encounter leads to Colby being brought back from the brink of death by strangers. Waking up and suffering amnesia, can he stay alive long enough to unravel what happened?

Meanwhile, in Humboldt, the battle for survival continues as food, fuel, and medicine shortages force locals to the point of desperation. After Sheriff Dan Wilder discovers three bodies hanging from the Alderpoint bridge, he struggles to maintain order and keep the feuding Strickland and Riker families from tearing each other apart. Amid new threats rising, a mysterious group enters the town with an offer he can’t refuse, but can they be trusted?

Survive the Lawless is the second explosive book in A Powerless World saga. This pause-resisting post-apocalyptic EMP thriller series is about two ordinary, feuding families fighting for survival in a world gone dark.

Family Feuds

Book 2 mainly focuses on the feuds between the two waring families targeting each other back and forth, and Colby's amnesia which I wasn't a fan of. It was quite a short, tame 'filler' book which obviously leads onto book 3, where I imagine a lot more happens.

I was given a copy of this book for free of my own choosing and have voluntarily left this review.

A lawless world

I enjoyed this book but you need to have read or listened to the first book to know what is is going on, also the story continues on into the the next book so be prepared to get the next book because you will want to know what happens. I did enjoy this book but think I preferred the first book because it was set more in a big city with bad guy's chasing the hero and you really get a feel for how the EMP pulse has effected every day life, where as this book is mainly just feuding families in a town where the law is losing control. Kane (the dog, who was my favourite character) was sadly missing from most of the story. However the characters are like able (if they survived) and the author really gives you a sense of the desperation the characters feel and what they must do to live. I hope the next book comes out quickly.
Colby has made it out of the city but life out in the country is just as dangerous. Especially when you wake up in a strange bed with no memory of who are. The only thing you remember is a spider tattoo. Finding the man wearing the tattoo could prove to be deadly but the closer he gets and the more people he talks to the more he begins to remember. Just who is the woman named Alicia? And why is it easier to picture a dog than her? Will be be able to find them or have they fearing him dead moved on already? At the same time in his home town the war between the Strickland and Riker's is heating up and bodies are once again beginning to drop like flies. Will any body still be alive by the time Colby gets his memory back?
I liked the narrator as he used different voices for each of the characters and the story flowed along nicely under his care.
