Summary

In a quaint seaside resort, a charming bakery holds the key to another world....

Returning to the much-loved world of the Little Beach Street Bakery, Jenny Colgan will delight existing fans of the series and entrance new listeners with this spellbinding new novel.

Marisa Rosso is struggling. Since the death of her beloved grandfather back home in Italy, she can't seem to find a way out of her grief. She's a registrar and knows losing grandparents is a natural part of life, so why does she feel so lost?

When she hears a hospital is recruiting in Mount Polbearne, a tiny and remote tidal island off the Cornish coast, Marisa thinks she has found the perfect retreat. Perhaps some solitude is just what she needs to combat her homesickness and rediscover her equilibrium.

But Mount Polbearne is a far cry from the sleepy little place she was imagining. Between her noisy Russian piano-teaching neighbour and the hustle and bustle of a community determined to get back on its feet, Marisa finds solitude is not so easy to come by. Especially when finds herself somehow involved with a tiny local bakery desperately in need of some new zest to save it....

Yet another joy.

Warm, humourous, gentle, charming, embracing delight, the series is something to re-hear, that is something as rare as hens teeth for me to say.

I love the series of books

Another wonderful story in the series about the beach street bakery, I just wish the story was longer, sad the audio book ended. highly recommend listening to all the stories, good narration and story flowed with ease. Nice story line but keeping main characters.

Brilliant

The narration was first class and all the characters were instantly recognisable, accents very good.
I know the ending is slightly predictable but who doesn’t love a happy ending at the moment.
Definitely recommend.

Confused by change of accent to Karenza

New narrator not briefed that K was more of a Home Counties girl than strong Cornish in all the previous books - most off-putting!

Flat narration lets it down

I love Jenny Colgan books but why change narrator? This changes the characters significantly- disappointing

Enjoyable

Loved listening to this, narrator was excellent and brought you into the story with the accents. Easy listening when working not too taxing if a little predictable

Fantastic narration to a fantastic story.

This book was so lovely to listen to. Easy to follow story line but still gripping and covering all emotions in one part or another. Recommend

not quite as good as the last book

bit slow to get started. Also it's a shame that there is a 5 year gap between the end of the last book and this one. I would have liked a book in-between.

Lovely story

I loved this gentle love story. Sad, but uplifting at the same time. Have read others by this author and it doesn’t disappoint.

Not as good as her other books

To me it felt like Jenny Colgan wasn’t sure what to write anymore in this book. Some parts were so much longer than necessary, but I guess the book needs to be filled with words. It was okay, but a tee wee boring at times.
