Summary

The epic tale of everyone's favorite dark elf, Drizzt Do'Urden, reaches new heights!

Drizzt Do'Urden struggles with his own inner voices, voices that call him back to the pitiless depths of the Underdark. But louder still are the voices of his newfound friends, and the dream that drives Bruenor Battlehammer on to reclaim Mithral Hall. Time and again they're told to turn back, that some dreams can never be fulfilled, but on they fight - together.

Gaaaahhhh!

I can't get over the way the reader says live/living. It annoys me so much, and happens with greater frequency than you think...

Far superior to its predecessor

A much better written and well paced book, this is a stunning improvement over the shambling mess that was the Crystal shard. A little derivative of the hobbit in places but ultimately a fantastic read for any dnd nerd.

A great listen for any DM

Running dnd campign in fearun, the location descriptions alone make the listen. The assain as the mirror of a main character will be an element i use in my games, or i am a bearded gnome.

middle of the road D&D

I've been slowly trying to plow through the early drizz books in order but have found the quality of them so erratic, this one being no exception.
While the foundational spine story is a clear Hobbit rip-off, the side plots and the way they come together was enough to keep me listening. However the last 3 hours or so were a real slog.
Given this is the middle of a trilogy of stories, it is my hope that the disappointment I had towards the end had to do with a bad choice in breaking off from the story where it did.

on a personal note, I wish the narrator would to correctly pronounce the word "lived"...its a small thing but really eats at my nerves.

Dependable

Solid fantasy story with many of the usual tropes, fun characters and a great plot sending our heroes into a forgotten underground kingdom

Beware... you may just find that which you seek...

Another excellent tale. Narrated with skill.

There are more bloody battles, and deep lessons... but also heavy hearted losses.

Second Part of a Fantastic Series

Thoroughly enjoyable. I liked this second part even more than the first and I'm looking forward to hearing the final episode of The Icewind Dale Trilogy
