Summary

No way. No how. Never. And if he calls me darlin' one more time...

He pushes buttons I didn't even know I had. Gabe freaking Barin. Fire to my ice. Walking mountain. Growly, alpha, and achingly kind. Last man on earth I want in my life.

But I've got three heaping problems: 1. My baby niece is missing. 2. Some psycho just slashed up my car. 3. My boss made Gabe my personal protector.

I'm a big girl in a tiny package. Sharp claws. Perfectly capable. So I'll ignore the jaw-dropping banter Goliath drops. I'll ignore how his Louisiana drawl melts damn near everything. I'll ignore how he's five times my size.

I'll even ignore the night hate gets complicated. Then our battle moves between the sheets. Gabe gives me a hundred new toe-curling reasons to curse his name. But there's one nagging thing I can't fight. What if Gabe freaking Barin is more than a gorgeous bad habit? What if he's the hero I never knew I'd need?

From Wall Street Journal best-selling author Nicole Snow - enemies-to-lovers to dynamite. Watch this lovable giant tear the world apart to claim his Pixie. Full-length romance novel with fireworks aplenty and the grand finale Happily Ever Afters should be.

Male voice doesn't match the character

When you here a person's voice before you see their face, you can give a pretty good guess what they may look like and an age range. His accent was fine but he sounded as if he was way older than the character was suppose to be. Don't get me wrong, I think he was a great narrator but he just sounded too old for the part.

There are no hot beaches in San Francisco...

Just as an SF native I can tell you there are no “warm” beaches to sleep on. If you could find a sandy beach in SF and tried to sleep on it, you would be mugged, murdered, freeze to death, and/or arrested.Perhaps this character is up North in Sausalito? Like in the last book? Also not a place to sleep or swim. I can’t think of anything more awful then to sleep on a Bay Area beach. The more north you go the colder the beaches. Even in the hottest summer a night time northern CA beach would be awful without a down sleeping bag and a propane heater. It’s also illegal to have a fire on most beaches. You also don’t cover a fire with sand or someone will put a foot in it and get burned. Needless to say I didn’t get far in this book. Maybe visit a place before you write about it?

Female main character is a B****

I almost stopped to listen when she accused him to sexual harassment! But I tried to the end cuz maybe … well after she treated him like garbage again and again… no just no!
I knew who kidnapped the kid at the first mention of the neighbor!!!

DNF - heroine is a b@#$%

Very disappointing. I liked Skylar as a side character in the previous book, and was looking forward to her story. I thought Skylar was going to be a strong, independent, and caring heroine, but around six chapters in I was disgusted at the way she treated people who had only tried to help her. The final straw was her purposely insinuating that the male lead made inappropriate sexual advances, which he had not, to intentionally cause trouble for him ! This is too close to an outright false allegation of sexual harassment, which feeds into the doubt and disbelief that legitimate victims face. Making an misleading statement to her boss with the intent of causing problems between him and his friend (both of whom had only been trying to help her), she not only doesn't deserve the love of the male lead but should be fired!

I can’t…

I’m only on the 2nd chapter, but I can’t handle the male narrator. Gabe should not sound like an old man. And ever since he talked about the color blue I can’t stop picturing a huskier version of Bob Ross. Sex scenes with that image just aren’t going to work. I was really looking forward to this book too.

Gabe and Pixie

Got a kick out of their nicknames. I liked the storyline, but I didn't like the Heroine, she didn't connect with hero, she was heartless and self serving no Matter the circumstance. He was a heartsick fool even with all his alpha, and she didn't deserve his attention with as shitty as she treated him and he kept coming back for more abuse from her. Even in her inner thoughts she barely gave him or his loyalty to her a bit of thought until the very end. I took a star for that and should have taken more but I liked Gabe to much even if he was a love struck fool, the gentleman he was.

Love story with suspense, very good performance

I love the writing, the depth of the characters, the suspense, and the happy ending. I don't like all the steamy scenes which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. The way Nicole Snow writes just grabs you though. She really has a way with words. Most of the performance is excellent.

Such a great story!

I loved Sky's and Gabe's story. Aubrey Vincent was fabulous, and Jim Steele was good, but I couldn't quite get over his accent. I kept picturing the SNL Colonel Angus skit.

Beautifully narrated story

Nicole Snows story is beautifully written lending a warmth and the timber of the male narrators voice enhances the stories resonance with the reader. You fall in love as you listen to beautiful words drawled out explaining places and feelings and situations. The female narrators voice is edgy and anxious expressing the stress of the story. She engages you and draws you in. It’s a romance but the circumstances that Gabe and Skylar meet are because of Skylars nieces abduction and her need but not want of protection. Gabe is the southern gentleman with a military backstory and Skylar is a tough intense female working in a mans world with a chip on her shoulder. Their similarities are intense as are their differences. The story is engaging and enhanced by the narration.
