About this listen

This is a story about taking a leap of faith
And believing the unbelievable

They say those we love never truly leave us, and I’ve found that to be true. But not in the way you might expect. In fact, none of this is what you’d expect.

I’ve been visiting my mother who died when I was eight.
And I’m talking about flesh and blood, tea-and-biscuits-on-the-table visiting here.

Right now, you probably think I’m going mad.
Let me explain…

Although Faye is happy with her life, the loss of her mother as a child weighs on her mind even more now that she is a mother herself. So she is amazed when, in an extraordinary turn of events, she finds herself back in her childhood home in the 1970s. Faced with the chance to finally seek answers to her questions – but away from her own family – how much is she willing to give up for another moment with her mother?

For fans of The Time Traveler’s Wife comes an original and heartwarming story about bittersweet memories, how the past shapes the future, and a love so strong it makes you do things that are slightly bonkers. ©2021 Helen Fisher (P)2021 Simon & Schuster UK

Fantastically narrated; exceptional story which had me captivated. I enjoyed the twist & switch between the present day and the early 70's ,,,,time travel possibilities & the endearing tale of love and loss. I must admit, the ending was totally unexpected. I would highly recommend this novel.

Thoroughly Enjoyable

I wanted to like this, but I couldn't get through it - an initially interesting idea but it quickly morphed into a rather cloyingly sentimental tone, accompanied by a heavy-handed religious element which I couldn't stomach. The writing wasn't terrible and the narration was good, so others might enjoy it more than I did.

Nice premise, shame about the execution.

Beautiful and heartfelt engaging novel about mothers, families and faith.

The story of Faye, 36 year old mum travelling back in time to see her mum who she has lost when she was 6.... to find out that the reason she'd lost her was because.... Cannot spoil it

It is a delightful quirky little story which is so compelling you cannot put it down.

The prose is a quite simplistic but in a good way. Characters are well developed and you feel attached to them.

The ending caught me by surprise :)

Fantastic !

At times this story is just too contrived. The ending seems set up for a second book, but I wouldn't read it if there were. it really doesn't work for me.
