Summary
A story of mix-ups, mess-ups and making the most of second chances, this is a novel from international sensation Jojo Moyes, author of Me Before You and The Giver of Stars.
Who are you when you are forced to walk in someone else's shoes?
Meet Sam...
She's not got much, but she's grateful for what she has: a job she's just about clinging on to and a family who depend on her for everything. She knows she's one bad day away from losing it all - and just hopes today isn't it...
Meet Nisha...
She's got everything she always dreamed of - and more: a phenomenally rich husband; an international lifestyle; and...she's just been locked out of all of it after her husband initiates divorce proceedings...
Sam and Nisha should never have crossed paths. But after a bag mix-up at the gym, their lives become intertwined - even as they spiral out of control.
Each blames the other as they feel increasingly invisible, forgotten, lost - and desperately alone.
But they're not.
No woman is an island. Look around. Family. Friends. Strangers.
Even the woman you believe just ruined your life might turn out to be your best friend.
Because together you can do anything - like take back what is yours...

Extremely disappointed
Although I did want to keep listening to this audiobook I found it really difficult. It starts off promising but goes downhill quickly. The style of writing was extremely disappointing, many phrases repeated, adverbs every five minutes and generally very unimaginative. The characters became more unlikable and unbelievableI as the story progressed. I was very glad to finish it. It may be something to read on the beach but great writing it is not.

I totally enjoyed this from start to finish...although some of the accents were annoying they were done brilliantly by the narrator. Such well portrayed characters and the story did keep me entertained and engaged ...I was sorry when the end came...definately will get Jojo Moyes next audiobook...

Just enough tension, humour and interest throughout the whole book.
Couldn’t put it down and liked the ending, a few surprising twists and turns along the way

standard chick lit
predictable and dragged out. Daisy Ridley was good but the voice felt too young to portray middle aged women.

Couldn’t get enough of this book! What a fabulous listen…! The story is a sheer joy and the characters are engrossing. I didn’t want the book to end. This is a story that leaves you willing the characters on and the feel good ending leaves you satisfied with a warmth that only a really good book can achieve.

Pretty good
I don’t this will go fine as a classic, and it did take me a little hole to get into it, but I ended up enjoy it. Thanks Jojo - I do generally really enjoy your books. I agree with others that Nisha was a thoroughly unlikeable person which grated for quite a while although she found her moments.
I thought the narrator did a subtle but good job of distinguishing characters.
I enjoyed the surprises here and there.
Good work team.

I simply loved this !
This was my audio read of the week that I listened to in 3 days, there wa so much happening in this story that I simply could not stop listening!
Sam is in a job she once enjoyed but is severely micro-managed by her awful boss. This makes every day on the work treadmill feel twice as long and she feels like she constantly has to walk around on eggshells around him. She cannot afford to lose her job right now. Her husband is currently unemployed and depressed. She is carrying the household and life admin for both of them. She feels unappreciated and unseen.
A morning workout at the gym has her grabbing the wrong gear bag in her rush to get to an important meeting and she ends up with someone else’s clothes and shoes. She literally finds herself having to take a walk in someone else's shoes. The confidence she feels when wearing these shoes gives her an unexpected lift that improves the outcomes of some important meetings. Maybe things are going to be okay after all?
Nisha is at the same gym that morning and is horrified to discover that someone has taken her designer bag with her one of a kind designed shoes and clothes. She finds herself in a bathrobe and shoes she would never have entertained wearing, trying to make her way to the hotel her and her husband reside in. Her driver has gone awol and when she eventually gets there she finds herself locked out of the penthouse. She has no handbag, no money, no clothes, no shoes and no passport to get back to the US, oh and her husband has filed for divorce. Could things get any worse right now?
Sam’s days seem to get from bad to worse as she struggles to keep her family afloat on a raft that feels like it is falling apart. When Nisha finally finds her, the woman who stole from her, she finds herself caught up in a carefully hatched plan. Nisha finds herself doing things she never thought she would and also opens her eyes to what it is like to walk in someone else’s shoes. She also finds unlikely friendships in places she couldn’t have imagined.
Honestly, this story kept me turning the pages, there was so much happening! I was laughing so much and at times holding my breath. There were moments when I wanted to look away… but I just kept on going. I simply loved this !
