Good.

I enjoyed this post apocalypse book, although the story isn't completed at the end - it goes on in the next book. The narration was good.

Sappy

One of the worst post apocalyptic books I’ve listened to. Bad gender stereotypes, stupid characters and bad plot line. Men are cowboys or military. Women are weak and need real toilets in the apocalypse. I gagged at the dialogue. Only sensible character is the teenage daughter.

Very disappointing

From what starts out as a promising new take on the post-apocalyptic scenario the story is sadly let down by the ridiculous main character. More damsel-in-distress than gritty heroine, she frequently congratulates herself on her own courage whilst relying on her teenage daughter and the nearest “big strong man” to come to her rescue. This contradiction becomes increasingly annoying, and at times laughable, as the story progresses.

Meh

Bit silly. Started off very exciting but was silly after that. I’m guessing it is YA which I didn’t realise before reading.

Survival of the idiots

I was sadly unimpressed with how the characters were developing. Minute after minute they were making enough stupid choices and acting like idiots that listening after just a few chapters became painful.
It's not enough that the main character is portrayed as a scared mother miraculously coming up with soldier training ideas but the dynamic between others is out of a bad romance novel.

Incredibly cheesy

This book was dreadful and really a romance not apocalyptic sci-fi. So many flaws and plot holes and it was so bad I thought it must be a joke.
I will listen to almost anything so the bar is not set high with me but this was poor. Idea of the story I liked and the narrator did the best she could with the subject matter. Female characters were weak and male characters were cheesy. If you like Mills & Boon then this will be right up your street. If not steer clear.

not great

a goid premise and started off OK. however lead character is a surgeon; why does she turn into a weakling who has to rely on a man she's just met? disappointing

a fab read

absolutely loving this book, so gripping and full of fascinating things. Honestly wasn’t expecting to read this book quite in the way it is. Fascinating to hear how people are surviving during this pandemic.

Truly Awful

Poor story, pathetic weak characters, bad narrator. I managed 2 hours 36 mins on this load of twaddle with a simpering unbelievable main character and a really silly plot full of holes from the start. Theres worse out there, but this is not worth the time.

Lighter weight than some end of the world stories

I wasn’t keen on the storyline at first but the characters grew on me gradually and I found myself wanting to hear more. Good narrator.

Just Awful

There was way too much happening in this book and most of it just was not believable. These people have the worst luck, and met with disaster around just about every corner. The characters were not even true to themselves. The main character mentioned traveling with a bug out bag and that’s the last you hear of it in the story, it never made another appearance even when they actually needed to bug out. Also, the characters really got on my nerves, they never would have survived such an event. They’re just too stupid. I won’t bother with the next installment and don’t recommend this one. This author should scale back on the number of disasters and work on substance, you don’t want your readers rolling their eyes and saying ‘what now?” Every time something happens. The narration was pretty well done, but that’s not enough for this story to stand on.

Meh

It was predictable and so very glad it was free. Narrator was good but the main character was kind of an impulsive witch

Absolutely Terrible

This is a playback for what NOT to do in a grid down situation. The characters just make mistake after idiotic mistake until you can't stand it anymore and give up. I made it about halfway through only because the narration was good.

Repetitive and Predictable

After the 4th round of tragedy and triumph I was thinking to myself that either they are the dumbest and or luckiest people. So many times the same thing until it abruptly ends with a short resolve that tries to bait me into the next book. Sorry Audible this series is fine for the free collection but there is no way I am using credits or paying to hear what happens because I could probably write it myself. Next book: They take off to find her kids, they face tragedy and triumph 10 times or more, they make it to Colorado but there are problems there so they can't leave to return to get Julia until the 3rd book......and on and on the same pattern goes. Yeah the premace sounded amazing, but the delivery needed more character depth and less predictability.

Save your time skip this book

Wow! I don't know how this book has more than 1.5 Stars. There is zero chance this woman would be a Surgeon in real life. This is the most absurd nonsensical book I've listened to and I prefer apocalyptic books. Story line is not plausible. I won't be going on to book 2.

All I could hear was the lady sucking in air

all I could hear was her inhaling the mic every 2 seconds, didn't make it an hour.
