About this listen
"Giving up" alcohol might sound daunting...but what are you actually giving up when you're hungover on the sofa all day? Cutting out the booze can transform your life in unexpected ways.
We live in a culture that celebrates alcohol use as if it were somehow different from the drugs we place legal restrictions on.
We mark every occasion with alcohol, whether it's a good day, bad day, new job, old job, divorce, wedding, funeral, birthday, holiday and the list goes on and on…you can always guarantee that someone, somewhere, is getting drunk…and it's "normal" to get drunk right?
Alcohol is the one drug that if we have too much of it we are shamed for our behaviour, but if we decide not to drink, we are classed as boring. We live on a drunk planet.
Our love of alcohol is holding us back. Think about the last time you had a drink–even if you weren't conscious of a hangover, you probably felt some effects.
Perhaps your head was a bit cloudy, or you took longer to get going in the morning.
Perhaps you were tired and reaching for the snacks to keep you going at the end of the day.
Maybe you had hopes and dreams before alcohol became a regular occurrence.
Alcohol is expensive, and it has side effects that go far beyond just having a headache the next day.
Imagine the difference in your life if you were to take those side effects away and save the money to fund what you really want to do with your life–and there's a strong chance it involves something a whole lot more fulfilling than a glass of wine or bottle of beer.
Sober on a Drunk Planet: Giving Up Alcohol recognizes how difficult it is to break free of drinking culture and provides you with all the motivation you need to kickstart a new life.

Inspiring and Informational
I dont't have a drinking propblem personallly, but even those who aren't going through a sobrienty journey can learn a thing or 2 from this book. I love how well researched the author is in how liquor is normalized and integrated as a fuffilling "need" in society when it can actually be holding you back in your happiness or expenses. An interesting read!

A Great Help for those that struggle
I found this book and have had some struggles in the past, I decided to give it a listen. It had a lot of good insights and ways to help you overcome your issues with alcohol and how much of a drain on your finances and mindset it can have.

Love the approach of this audiobook!
I like the title, which caught my attention, and I wasn't wrong. The author finds an easy way to open your eyes regarding this delicate subject. It made me think and agree that we really live on a drunk planet. Why do we need to drink to be fun? Why people are taken as boring if choose to not drink? We need to break these cycles. Change this kind of behaviour. I really recommend this book if you are thinking about giving up alcohol and all the side effects that come together. Thank you.

Great book to kickstart a drastic reduction in drinking!
I chose this book because I recognise my drinking has got out of hand. I can/could relate to most chapters and it’s given me the confidence and tools to give it a try. My only criticism is the narration was a bit monotone.

A most authentic story of acheiving sobriety and its immense benefits
This title sparked my curiosity, and I'm pleased I picked it up! It's captivating to listen to the benefits of sobriety and abstaining from alcohol. The author lays emphasis that alcohol is a widely available 'drug' with the same disastrous effects as other drugs and that it is the "gateway drug." The audiobook then goes on to discuss the connection between alcohol and a variety of health problems, such as weight gain, poor gut health, hallucinations, insomnia, anxiety, despair, and even life expectancy. Alcohol's far-reaching impacts on people's physical, emotional, material, and even spiritual well-being are well-captured and articulated. In particular, the effects of alchohol on the gut - IBS, acid reflux, leaky gut syndrome, constipation, diahorrea and constipation, among others will resonate with quite a number of people. The influence of alchohol and its promotion of poor behaviour is yet another.
The audiobook emphasizes the advantages of giving up alcohol and achieving both physical and mental health, as well as a better appearance 'the'sober glow.' I'm guessing that the cost of maintaining an alcoholic habit will be shocking to many listeners. As a result, one of the most powerful messages in the audiobook is the attainment of 'financial freedom' and financial peace of mind.
Most importantly, it is written from the perspective of the author, who has personally experienced, conquered, and is now sharing his story. As a result, it's incredibly genuine. If you know a teen or young adult, get this audiobook and give it to them as a gift. It's also beneficial for adults of any age who aren't aware of the entire range of alcohol's effects.

Amazing Awareness!
Wow! This book is eye-opening. The writer gives both facts and examples of how alcohol has affected his life and has made me aware of my own consumption and the impact that alcohol has on my personal life. I used to think that getting a drink to escape for a quick minute was harmless but Sober on a Drunk Planet has made me aware that that is just not the case. I recommend this book for anyone who is thinking about giving up alcohol.

Life changer!
This book is unreal. I have gone through phases on giving up alcohol and always felt great but i always end up going back to it and its never been worth it. This book gives such insight and perspective on the wealth of being alcohol free and seeing the value in life beyond the bottle. A must read and as i said in the title a life changing book!
