Summary
Welcome to the Larkford Surgery in the Cotswolds, the heart of a tightknit community as well as a hotbed of drama, rivalry, resentment and romance - and that's just the doctors....
Dr Holly Graham is finding life with two sets of twins exhausting. Even with husband Dr Taffy Jones and devoted friend Elsie by her side, she is completely outnumbered. Making the transition back to work will be no easy feat, but a regular slot on Radio Larkford as their on-air doctor might be the perfect stepping-stone, until an unexpected job offer changes everything.
Dr Alice Walker’s new canine clinic at Larkford Surgery with Coco, her assistance dog, has been a storming success. If only shipping her best friend, Dr Tilly Grainger, in from South America to cover for Holly had been such a smooth transition. It seems that Tilly isn’t finding life in the peaceful Cotswolds valley as rewarding as she’d hoped, and she is causing chaos.
Join the residents of Larkford as secrets, drama and romance are revealed in the new novel from the best-selling author of Out of Practice and winner of the RNA Romantic Comedy Award 2017.

Wonderful!
I have just finished this story during the run up to Christmas and really wish there was another volume to start on straight away. I know it's predictable and a bit 'sweet' but sometimes that's just what you want. Great to meet up with familiar characters and to see life in Larkford unfolding. I so want to move there and have Holly as my GP!!!

Nice to be back in Larkford
Another visit to our glorious medical team in Larkford. Holly and Taft are managing life with two sets of twins.. just, Alice is missing Jamie but not for long and there’s a surprise or two in store for Grace and Dan. And just what is new girl Tillie up too? Excellent story gripped me to the end, and loved listening to what mischief Elsie was up to again. X highly recommend.

Ok, I am giving up on this series now
I could not wait finishing this book to be able to review and complain about it.
So in a way I can join in with the characters that seem to have inner moaning monolog throughout the book.
Not much story, but an incredible amount of moaning.
And at points I though the book was a hidden advert for those monstrosities called Aga. The author seems to think one can not have a happy home life without one of these environmental disasters as the heart of the home that cost more than I think one should spend on the whole kitchen.
I am starting to think that maybe the first two books were saved by the great narration. Because the narrator changed with book three and now again I think.
Then there was the thing that the story revolves about characters that either earn a lot (GPs) or are rich. But still there is a lot of, we can not afford things. But then the main characters hires a full time nanny no problem. This combined with some of the consultation makes me think, that maybe the author do not know how people with that kind of income/responsibility really live. Certainly not in this sort of local bubble. The boyfriend does not work locally and both are working full time and are well paid, well they would fly to visit at least twice and month.
And all doctors live locally. That does not seem right either, a lot of GPs would rather not meet their patients when shopping. And this is UK and all the GPs are white and born in Britain? For political correctness you through in some Lesbians, but nobody with a migration background?
Then there are the problems that still niggle at me from the past books and are not resolved but new problems pilled on top of them.
The father of the first set of twins does not show up once and his mother, living localy if I recall correctly is completly out of the picture. Does a doctor with an approach to look at the whole person really think her boys will not have some questions why their father is not in the picture at all?
Then the rich old lady giving away houses to everybody or so it seems. She has children of her own, how can it be right to cheat them out of their inheritance, employ their mother as an unpaid granny and sponge of her while she was a rubbish mother to her own children. I am pretty sure in real life those children would try to get her declared incompetent and rightly so.
And I find myself sympathising with the big bad character, if someone sells me a fairtrade drink, I confess, I do expect the whole package to be fairtrade and not topped with sprinkles from unsure origin.
Somehow this whole book was out of balance, I did not cope well with characters protrayed as glowing examples of greatness who are doing things that in my opinion just plain wrong.
Ah and last but not least, loads and loads of booze and hang overs, not really compatible with the health in the community schemes!
