Summary

Who is the man behind the many voices of Rob Brydon? Read by the man himself, this audiobook memoir will reveal the warm heart behind one of Britain's favourite impressionists.

A multi-award-winning actor, writer, comedian and presenter known for his warmth, humour and inspired impressions, Rob Brydon has quickly become one of our very favourite entertainers. But there was a time when it looked like all we'd hear of Rob was his gifted voice.

Growing up in South Wales, Rob had a passion for radio and soon the Welsh airwaves resounded to his hearty burr. However, these were followed by years of misadventure and struggle, before, in the TV series Marion and Geoff and Gavin and Stacey, Rob at last tickled the nation's funny bone. The rest, as they say, is history. Or in his case autobiography.

A Small Man in a Book is a funny, heartfelt, honest, sometimes sad, but mainly funny, memoir of how a young man from Wales very, very slowly became an overnight success.

loved it. Allowed me to hear how Rob moved to the place his life is at today and fought hard in a tough business.

Heartwarming

A lovely book - Rob Brydon is obviously a thoroughly nice man and it's been entertaining and heartwarming hearing about his journey to stardom.

This is an audiobook, more than a book.

Rob Brydon is truely excellent in this book. Every single one of the many people he name drops is brilliantly brought to life by his realistic impressions. I can't imagine the original book is anywhere near as entertaining as this audiobook. When he's not effortlessly slipping into character, Brydon's own smooth baritone voice is relaxing and entertaining to listen to. The only downside is the fact that the story is a little bit vanilla. In places Brydon injects a little humour, but it would be great if the material was presented in a little bit more comedic fashion. I laughed a couple of times at the anecdotes, but there could have been so many more laugh out loud jokes along the way. Overall though, a very entertaining biography.

Lovely

Wasn’t sure at first - took a punt and wasn’t disappointed. Heavenly having Rob read it and do all his voices. Also fascinating hearing how hard he worked and the perseverance. Really love book

Intresting if you like Rob or Wales

This is a nice biography its not all giggles and laughs but a honest and interesting tale about boy from Wales. I enjoyed it thoroughly, especially since it was read by the author, which always gives it that little bit extra. There are even some songs ;)

Very Rob Bryson

Love Robs voice but his delivery is so much like his characters and prolonged listening is quite wearing
