Summary
This short book gives you the basics of Welsh in an effective and efficient way, taking as little time as possible. You can use it if you're a complete beginner, or as a revision aid if you're already on the road to fluency. Or maybe if you just find yourself in a rut, and would like a bit of help moving on.
The idea is simple; by spending around an hour on this book, with breaks in between chapters, you should be able to master a very simple form of Welsh. A simple form that will let you say what you, or anyone else, is doing, has done, or is going to do, including the negative and question forms. The book is broken down into six chapters, each taking around 10 minutes to complete and revise. Each chapter has exercises, together with answers at the back of the book.
The book is written by professional Welsh-to-adults tutor Colin Jones, author of the epic home-study Welsh course Cadw Swn. This book is the distillation of years of teaching Welsh to adults, and should provide an essential introduction to the language.

NOT Audible friendly
This is sadly a direct reading of the book, which I neither have, nor intended to have to purchase.
I was hoping to learn Welsh, not listen to a reading of a TEXT book. I only made it to the end of the first chapter before getting so frustrated I had to give up.
For Example: Whilst reading, having a section summing up what's going to be covered in the following chapter is very useful for revision purposes, but in an audio, it's just repeating what you heard less than ten seconds ago, it's pointless.
Then there's commenting on the obvious lack of capitalisation of an 'i', that would be useful I'm sure if I had been informed that the word had an i in in the first place, only listening rather than reading, this just threw me completely.
IF it had been slightly tailored to be aware of its new medium I could have been content with the disparity.
Readers of a text book can read over something multiple times - you get one shot here to listen and get your 'ear tuned in' before it's gone - you'd have to keep on stopping and starting it to get anything from it. A process that would stretch this format out longer than the planned hour.
Just cut the irrelevant and take time with the listening / pronunciation.
As to the 'vocabulary' section thrown in at the end of the chapter - it's so rushed, making sense of anything feels impossible.
This Is only useful as an accompaniment to the written book - a shame, because I'm sure that the author IS a competent teacher, it's just that it's text book format doesn't suit Audibles format for those who want to learn via audio books.

Brilliant
Would you consider the audio edition of Simple Welsh in an Hour of Your Time to be better than the print version?
Think each has their strengths: go for both
What was one of the most memorable moments of Simple Welsh in an Hour of Your Time?
The author/narrator has such a dry sense of humour. He takes the sting out of some of the surprising things about Welsh for a non-Welsh speaker.
What about Colin Jones’s performance did you like?
Clear, well-paced, and very good delivery, especially dead pan humour.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I don't know about being moved, but I learned a lot in a very short space of time.
Any additional comments?
Anyone new to Welsh should start with this book. It is brilliant.

The written word.
While it is lovely to hear the relaxed spoken words of Colin it would be so useful to see the written word at the same time. Is this a possibility?
I for one could absorb the lesson so much more easily that way.

excellent. very much recommend book and audible
Loved this- very helpful fast easy intro. very much recommend working both in book and audible for pronuciation and spelling. The Welsh accent speaking English is beautiful and the narrator is witty. I personally am having to go through more than once but everyone learns differently and even at that this is an excellent quick resource.

Super helpful for those just starting to learn.
I wish every language program would start in exactly this way. The book reviews the basic vocabulary and structure that every first language speaker uses every day.

Excellent crash course
a great book, though at least one sentence seems to be cut short through editing.
