About this listen
From J.R. Rain and Matthew S. Cox, the best-selling duo that brought you New Moon Rising and Convergence, comes Silver Light, the first in a brand-new fantasy series starring Alexis Silver, a mermaid detective!
For centuries, tales have told of merfolk haunting the seas, strange creatures teasing or helping sailors at their whim, occasionally having them for dinner. And not in a cordial sense.
Alexis Silver was ahead of her time, a woman too smart to fit into society at the turn of the century. She gave up her dreams of higher education for love, marrying young. But her husband, and the life she wanted, perished in World War I, soon after. Heartbroken and restless, she booked passage on a cruise along the West Coast in search of adventure, but adventure found her.
The ship capsized, killing everyone on board, except for her. As she drifted far beneath the waves, inexplicably alive, the reason for her survival flashed by in a streak of silver: a merman. He had passed along the curse - or gift - as Alexis sees it.
A century later, she breaks up the monotony of immortality in the Pacific Northwest working as a private investigator. The long-dormant maternal instincts of her resident Dark Master kick in when a nice older couple hire her to find their missing son and his family. Her instincts tell her this isn't like her usual jilted-spouse cases.
If she doesn't work fast, a little girl is going to die.

So easy to listen to
Really enjoyed listening to this story. Kelly Huston's narration was just right for this book and she gave the characters extra life as she read the story.
Looking forward to the next book.
I loved that a mermaid became a PI and we see how she deals with life in and out of the water. I enjoyed the humour in this book.

Fantastic Paranormal Story
A mermaid PI!! Love how this goes through her life before and up to the current moment all while going through her current cases. Which in themselves are fascinating and exhilarting. This is such a unique story. I honestly didn't want the book to end. Loved her cool powers and how she viewed the world. Don't want to give to much away but just advising that this is a MUST READ. The narrator did an outstanding performance. AudiobookObsessionReviewer

A new favourite series.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started listening I thought it would start at the point she was on the ship that sunk but was happy she gave her back story soon after . Alexis is kickass as a private detective and anyone that thinks she’s a push over for a young women are in for one huge awakening 😂 I love how her and her dark entity had the connection with Anna just from the photo and I hope to see the relationship between Anna and Alexis grow as the series progresses . This is a first for me from both authors although I do have other audiobooks I haven’t listened to yet . Kelly Huston was the perfect narrator I have several books narrated by her and she always does a great job . I am going to start book 2 now so watch out for my review 🙂

Silver light marvelous
This book was excellent, due to my very busy life I only listen to books so that I can do two things at once. Books need to keep my attention or I stop and go to the next. I use books to help with my energy the better the book the more I can do. Loved the story the characters the narrator. I was captivated from word one next book already started 😃

Loved it!
I don’t usually go for murder mystery type books but I’m glad I got this one as it was really enjoyable.
There was Good depth to the characters I liked that she wasn’t perfect and had a slight dark side to her. I really enjoy a good strong female lead it’s so much better than the whole damsel in distress kind of rubbish! So the plot line actually had a main story but it also had another mini drama alongside it so it ended the book really well.
I actually loved the narrators voice it was super clear and easy to listen to, it also fitted the main character very well. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I would definitely recommend it tho as it was really good book and I loved the whole mermaid aspect to it.

Good surprise
I was worried that this was going to turn into the creepy version of the sirens show on TV all about death and darkness because its a murder and detective book but I was pleasantly surprised it didn't. I really enjoyed the story. Good listen.
