Very appropriate for today (2023)
I wish I had this book when I was young. (I also wish I’d been diagnosed with ADHD and Autism when I was young and not at the age of 30…) This story was so validating while also working through an ethical dilemma so relevant to today’s AI hype.
I can’t think of much more to say right now because I’m still crying, other than that this is well worth a read for teens and adults alike.

Extraordinary story of friendship
Show Us Who You Are is an unusual but heart warming story of two outcasts who find common ground and form an unshakeable bond. This extraordinary tale covers topics including autism, identity, artificial intelligence, greed and rejection. Despite the slightly stretched Black Mirror dystopian storyline it manages to stay on the side of believability and has a powerful moral message.with strong characters.

The best children’s author offering neurodiverse perspectives
What starts as a story as charming as A Kind of Spark turns in to a work of speculative fiction that ask all sorts of questions from eugenics to grief.

Nice to have a happy ending...
With the subject matter being so intense. On the whole Loved everything about it. Brought me to various feeling tears more than once. Only 'small' bug for me was the occasional over example of 'how different' something is without the how's & what's of the difference being exampled. When examples were given I often related - I am a neroDiverser myself. Thank you for this lovely book.

Absolutely amazing!
Amazing! It really made me think how important everyone is and that I should never take them for granted. I defiantly recommend this story. In my opinion I would give it a 10+ because there is one curse word in it but other than that it's super kid friendly. The reader was excellent as well. I could certainly listen to the story at night without the voice keeping me up. Overall, it's great to listen to and plus, it's free (is you have 'included')

Compelling, thought-provoking and perfectly narrated.
Another powerful & original book from Elle McNicoll, who is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. Convincing & relatable characters combined with a thrilling & sinister AI theme that makes the reader think about ethics, grief, friendship and justice.
