thoroughly entertaining

young protagonist give this a middle/teen age but I enjoyed it and I am certainly neither of those ages! a lively story which I could easily see my family members characters in for a small part and I will definitely buy a copy for my 11 year ol and possibly another to hold onto for the 9 year old. Again most enjoyable.

Can’t wait for sequel

Loved this book and Ramya’s magical adventures. Added bonus of being set in Edinburgh. Narrator’s soft accent and expressiveness really brought this book to life.

The best book I have read in a long time.

I love this book - and I’m a 44 year old.

No matter who you, what age, race, gender, no matter what is happening in your life, this book will have a way of speaking to you.

It is beautiful in its simplicity and yet speaks on so many levels, written with words and imagery that immediately relay what the author has in mind.

I will read this over and over and always find something different to hear.

Roald Dahl’s Matilda meets Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere in this exciting tale of diversity and adversity.

Another brilliant book by Elle McNicoll with a strong-willed, fierce and neurodivergent MC who overcomes internal and external conflict in the face of some pretty extreme adversity. Fabulously read, I was hooked. Powerfully written, evocative and gripping magical realism. Elle McNicoll has an eye for detail and such a captivating way with words. I’m looking forward to continuing the story with Like a Curse.
