Summary
A girl trying to get by. A mob boss with family obligations. A romance that seems impossible.
Christi O’Rourke is perfectly content with her life. With a successful career as an event planner, there is little time for a personal life. When a mystery guest at a wedding she organized gets a little too involved with her friends and family, Christi is forced to confront him. She knows firsthand how blind love can be and how quickly it can leave you broken.
Patrick Malloy has it all: money, power, and his choice of women to warm his bed. When family responsibilities force him to find a wife, his resolve is to agree to an arrangement made in his youth.
Discover what happens when Patrick turns on the charm, and Christi learns she is outnumbered. Follow Christi as she learns the secrets behind Patrick's generosity and attention. Will his good looks and charisma be enough to win her over? Or will the evil lurking in the shadows destroy it all?

DAMN IT BUT THIS WAS DISAPPOINTING
I love a gripping Mob rollercoaster romance.. but sadly, for me, this particular story wasn’t one of them. I love getting drawn into a new world of possibilities.. but sadly, they started to crumble quite early on. I love a strong heroine who knows who, and what, she wants.. but sadly, I just wanted to throttle this one. I love an alpha bad boy Boss.. but sadly, this sweet man was all heart. And I love discovering new (to me) authors and narrators.. but sadly, both failed to deliver.
Worth a credit? Well, for me no, however you may love it.. and yes, there were some parts that worked well.. like giving everyone nicknames, the Irish family’s customs and family values, the few twists and the drop or two of danger. But overall and unfortunately, there were just too many parts that didn’t work, didn’t flow, didn’t make sense, jumped and didn’t give enough descriptive details to paint colorful mental images. Ninety-nine percent of the story was from the heroine’s POV, it does end in a HEA 25 yrs later.. and book 2 is about what happened during those 25 married years.

Amazing Story... Horrible Narration
This is an amazing story and if you like dedicated Mafia bosses, you’ll LOVE Patrick. I had read this story on Kindle beforehand and when I couldn’t find a book to listen to, I bought it with the hopes of enjoying it again as I had before. Thankfully, the story is great because the narration is not. The narrator has a slight southern accent, which doesn’t at all sound like the main character who lives in Chicago. And her male voices are horrible. Not to mention her attempts at accents are atrocious. My recommendation would be just to read this on Kindle. But definitely read it, the story is soooo good.

Story is great, narration does not fit.
Narrator has a southern accent. She did a terrible Irish accent for some characters & seemed to forget which ones. The lead males voice was the worst. Im sure she would be fabulous for a southern based story, just not this one.

Intense Romance
I really enjoyed this book. I was drawn into the story and the background of this Irish Mob family. The characters were easy to follow. I thought the narrator did a great job.
Definitely didn’t expect the dark twist.
I’ve already purchased the next book!

love this book.
I really enjoy this story I have read it many times. The narrator was okay aside from her southern drawl ... the book takes place in Chicago, with a lot of Irish accents. The accents are fine-ish but the “normal” voice is all southern. So that’s why it gets a low rating from me.
