Summary
Few bands are as shrouded in the murky haze of rock mythology as The Doors, and parsing fact from fiction has been a virtually impossible task. But now, after fifty years, The Doors' notoriously quiet guitarist is finally breaking his silence to set the record straight.
Through a series of vignettes, Robby takes listeners back to where it all happened: the pawn shop where he bought his first guitar; the jail cell he was tossed into after a teenage drug bust; his parents' living room where his first songwriting sessions with Jim Morrison took place; and the many concert venues that erupted into historic riots. Both a time capsule of the 1960s counterculture and a moving reflection on what it means to find oneself as a musician, Set the Night on Fire is a must-hear for Doors fans and an essential volume of American pop.

nice delivery
story jumps around a lot and leaves a few gaps here and there. I liked that it was narrated by the author.

The Fire Burns Brightly
Wonderful words; wonderful performance by the reader; incredibly honest, self effacing, moving, funny memoir. I have listened to around a dozen ‘rock and roll’ biographies in the last 3 years via audible, and this is the standout best. Okay it helps that I love the Doors, and their music, but this is written, and read like a conversation; warm and heartfelt, and a wonderful story of a young man, and his friends and family sewn - seamlessly - into one of the coolest, most profound and most dangerous periods of human cultural expression. Enjoy.
Ps, thank you, Robbie, and thank you, Dennis Boutsikaris.

I love his hair!!
Jim Morrison died and The doors broke up just before I was born but for the last 40 years of my life I have been lucky enough to be a fan of their music in all its aspects but this book gave me much more than any documentary or book has done before! It gave me an honest retelling of how 4 friends created something completely majestic that we will never see the likes of again! I don’t think the story of The Doors needs any “fluffing up” and thats what this book delivers! A true & real account of an historic moment in time!

Awesome book
Couldn’t of found a better person to narrate this audio book, Dennis’s laid back narration reflects Robby’s personality well. Awesome book, found out loads more about the Doors history that I never knew, and I have read a lot about the Doors.

Likeable and informative.
I enjoyed this. I've been a fan of The Doors for many, many years and this seems to be as unsensationalised and honest as any book about them could be, even if you make allowances for the fact that every man is the hero of his own autobiography.
Also a really nice touch having the photos available as a PDF, I just wish I'd noticed before I finished the book.
Well worth a listen.
