Summary

After helping my steady dragon Zav with his family problems, I thought life would get back to normal. As normal as it can be when you’re a hit woman responsible for hunting down bad guys.

That was before a strange artifact showed up in a bog and turned my ancient dwarven sword into a magical beacon. Now, my enemies can sense it from hundreds of miles away. More than that, every club-toting, over-muscled orc, ogre, and troll who would like a magic sword can sense it.

Usually, fighting off opportunists wouldn’t be a problem (they don’t call me Ruin Bringer without reason), but even I can only handle so many attacks at a time. And Zav isn’t as much help as you’d think, since he’s busy on a quest for a ring.

No, it’s not a Lord of the Rings kind of quest. My boss put it in Zav's head that since we’re mated in the dragon way, we should also be married in the human way. Now, he’s off to find the perfect engagement ring. Given his taste in human footwear, I may be in trouble for more reasons than my marked sword.

Not only is there no chance of my life getting back to normal any time soon, but if I can’t figure out how to fix my sword, I’ll be dead long before I can get married.

Good addition to the series

I absolutely CANNOT believe that another reviewer has given this book 1 star because they can access the books for free on YouTube. If you loved the book and the author and the narrators so much, then you should be happy to give them some money so they can make even more books! You know what happens if authors don’t make enough money to live? They stop writing. Even if you did have a problem with it being free elsewhere, you could have given them a 5 star rating and just mentioned the comment in the review. I, for one, love being able to access books on Audible and listen to them in a more convenient way than YouTube, and I definitely like financially supporting the team that brings these books to life if it means they produce more.

Anyway, the book - great addition to the series, enjoyable banter, plot, characters etc, and the books always seem to bring a new plot line which is awesome as some other series get a little repetitive. I’m looking forward to the next book!

Good series, but…..

The series is great, my only disappointment is the author’s pre occupation with sex and that the strong female lead characters created all start off as independent, but by half way through all the series by this author seem to turn sappy and have whining internal dialogue and this seems to be a trend theme through all the books I’ve listened to. All the books are really good, the worlds and story lines, are fantastic, it’s just a shame they get a little sidetracked.

I love this book. So why 2 stars? Read on.

An amazing story. I love the series. Well written and well narrated (with the exception of the terrible Australian accent for one character - like the Bruce scene from Monty Python). So why one star? Well, after spending money on them I realised I didn't have to. They are all free on YouTube with very few adverts. Not stolen or pirated but free from the author. The exact same recordings. I wouldn't have minded that the first two books were free. to get people into it. But the are all there. Save your money and use YouTube. Definitely don't buy if you have a YouTube Premium. I spent £36 on these books for no reason.
