Summary
The ultimate patriot mission
The plane carrying the Secretary of Defense is blown out of the sky. The Defense Intelligence Agency greenlights an unprecedented response - Operation: Sandblast.
Pentagon Covert Ops runner Bridget Davenport, must find someone to infiltrate the Taliban, get to the terrorist mastermind, and at all costs stop his plan for an attack more destructive than 9/11. Bridget finds young California-raised Afghan-American Lieutenant Faraz Abdallah. His heritage and military training make him the perfect undercover agent, but no one knows whether he can do the job.
Success depends on Faraz's ability to fool the Taliban's top leaders and become a terrorist, while remembering why he's really there. Bridget believes in him, but it will take everything she has to keep the president and the top brass from pulling the plug...

Authentic
I have read many espionage and spy thrillers and enjoyed them. However, Sandblast, is a standout! The writing, narration and story are robust. Nothing cliche here. The author, Al Pessin, a seasoned former foreign correspondent brings an authentic voice to this novel. The reader/listener is engaged from the get-go. I found myself thinking about the story events during the intervals that daily life makes me take from my audiobooks. The narrator is exceptional as well. His performance is flawless. HIs voice is that of a true storyteller. I highly recommend Sandblast to all who enjoy a good story, well-told.

Incomplete.
Story and characters were great. The book needed another 30 minutes of closure. The way the story ended was not very complete. Wouldn’t have taken much for an epilogue.

Good story, hated the end.
Overall, I enjoyed the story despite some weak areas. Dylan is ruthless. The ending was rather weak. Three experienced people overlook basic protocol. I won't go into detail bc it would be a spoiler.

Great book and narration
Can’t wait for the next volume. It’s not everyday you come across a book as good as this one by blindly surfing the store.

Just couldn't get interested in the characters.
I was really looking forward to this book, after reading about the author. Unfortunately I just couldn't get engaged with the characters. It also seemed to just jump around too much. I couldn't finish it sadly. I really tried....

I loved it!
But I hate when infiltrators have to deep-six their current lives to take on the job.
This book has set up the series, since the enemy is a hydra. Sandblast has done an outstanding, though incomplete job on his mission, so we can expect more.
But I hate that any government would or could demand this much sacrifice from one of our fine warriors. This is almost worse than being KIA.
Wonderful narration. Accents spot on, characterizations and personalities well done.
