Summary

Can a curse be a blessing? Can dark power right a great wrong and heal a broken world?

Jaryd is a bartender and woodcutter for the Brass Bat Tavern and Inn. When he is not tending bar, chopping down trees, or fighting off simple undead, he often buries himself in books to escape his sordid past. With his friends, they try to lead a simple life on the outskirts of nowhere.

When a great evil reaches the lone inn, Jaryd becomes cursed to take on the mantle of Midknight, tasked with protecting a group of powerful undead in a nearby dungeon, whether he wants to or not.

Jaryd will have to navigate undead politics and traditions while protecting his friends from a fate worst than death.

Can Jaryd become powerful enough to fight a growing evil that threatens the realm of Ikkudran? Will his own thirst for power and justice consume him? Can he craft his armor, gain magical weapons and defeat a hidden enemy before his soul is taken by the very undead he swore to protect?

another great story from eden

what can I say from the author of 'my girlfriend are pirate elves' the story followed a well paced out flow. The mysterious introduction into the world got me hooked straight away. the narrator was amazing and it was my first time hearing them.
definitely recommended.

Unique take on Liches

This was not what I was expecting…in a good way. Good world building. Look forward to seeing where this goes.

ok, but the author needs a thesaurus.

not bad. although the author needs to invest in a thesaurus. they overuse the word "power" to the point it was annoying.

First taste of Eden Redd’s mind and it was good!

I enjoyed the book, it was executed well and performed brilliantly! The naughty bits in the story were not of my normal taste but well done and didn’t last long. Looking forward to the next book!

meh

if you like Eden Redds other work then you'll enjoy this. I really like lewd kingdoms although it had its problems it delivered on all the things I was looking for. this is more predictable I really wanted to like this book but I found it pretty boring it's not really bad it's just predictable. like I said if you enjoy her other work it's like her other stuff. she writes well and the narrator is amazing as always. her sex scenes are well written if not boring. except for the ghost the ghost was pretty hot. but otherwise the book is pretty average. not a bad way to spend your time but if you have something else you want to listen to I would wait on this one.

No Plot in Sight, no reasonable one

1) MC is a idiot and this is why, also Spoilers below!!

This all happens within a couple days.

MC: Starts off as some lumberjack, we are told nothing more of his background or education the reader is to assume he is illiterate because its a fantasy world and he is just a lumberjack that has done nothing else in his very young life.

MC: The lord kicks the bucket and tells the MC to put some random ring on, The MC idiot does it without question, even thought its a fantasy world nothing bad would ever happen.

MC: Learns the ring is cursed, along with some Ghost / Succubus comes with strings and he trusts said Ghost / Succubus whatever she says.

MC: Has sex with said Ghost / Succubus within 24 hours of getting the ring, mind you this Ghost / Succubus has been doing this same crap for the past 4 other ring bearers. Hundreds of years.

MC: Starts reading and trying to gain knowledge of the ring and its past. So he is literate being in some backwoods village that only has 4 living people in it?

MC: 30+ Clerics show up in town, does the MC ask them for help to rid him of the cursed ring? Does the MC point all these Clerics to the dungeon where all these Lich's are sleeping? Nooooope he does not. He starts a bar fight with them, because they want to kill a another Lich that is hiding in town.

MC and 4 others: Fights off 30+ Clerics in close quarters combat in a inn and survives! So the MC is now some uber warrior with zero training? So the MC is immune to damage I guess because during the fight he took over 6 hits from Maces and this MC has no armor on, aside from this dumb gauntlet that does NOT protect his body!!

Last thing, the narration is voiced like some Romance novel. Granted she is good, but it was a bad choice this type of book.

Fantastic

I'm a big fan of Sierra Kline's narration. The book was wonderful and I enjoyed the pacing. The story kept my interest and I am eagerly looking for to the next book Eden puts on audio. If you're on the fence, get off and give the book a try.

Another fantastic audio from eden!

Eden writes some of the hottest sexiest stuff out there. And then she gets top notch performers to read them. I highly recommend!

I liked the characters

All of the characters are interesting with well done motivations. The adult scenes were very tasteful and felt very smooth throughout the story. Narration was well done.

Loved it.

Very entertaining. A well done audio book. exceptional for single narrator. I can't wait for the next.
