Summary
In exchange for a vial of dragon's blood to save her brother's life, Melanie Hall offers herself up as a sacrifice to one of the British dragon-shifter clans. Being a sacrifice means signing a contract to live with the dragon-shifters for six months to try to conceive a child. Her assigned dragonman, however, is anything but easy. He's tall, broody, and alpha to the core. There's only one problem - he hates humans.
Due to human dragon hunters killing his mother, Tristan MacLeod despises humans. Unfortunately, his clan is in desperate need of offspring to repopulate their numbers and it's his turn to service a human female. Despite his plans to have sex with her and walk away, his inner dragon has other ideas. The curvy human female tempts his inner beast like no other.

such selfless sacrifice
Have you listened to any of Matthew Lloyd Davies’s other performances? How does this one compare?
This was the first of the narrator's books I listened to and will definitely look for his name in future
Any additional comments?
I did not know what to expect from this and was pleasantly surprised. From the word go, there was a lightness, a sense of humour ingrained into the story. The Story of Tristan's hate for humans and Mel's desire to save her human family was always destined to lead to confrontation. She was such a great character, strong and with a great sense of humour. I was intrigued by her need to save her family even though she knew it might take her away from them, maybe even cost her her life.
Tristan's dragon's voice made this story for me. He was petulant and childlike and oh so funny in his utter need. The struggle between human Tristan and dragon Tristan and their obvious need to work together made for interesting reading. His relationship with clan leader Bran and his sister revealed a different side of him too.
I really cannot wait to see what happens next.

Bitten by The Dragon
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I bought this audio by chance, as I haven't read any of Jessie Donovan books.
The reason it caught my eye was it was set in England, and i liked the voice of the narrator.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the way Tristram had the two different dialogue voice's in his head. His human half
and his dragon's half it was at times very funny. All the characters came alive for me.
It was at times funny, and at serious when needed.I thoroughly enjoyed the escapism
and characters that kept me interested.
What about Matthew Lloyd Davies’s performance did you like?
He was great at doing all the different voices. He didn't just read, the characters came alive
for me. I would buy another book with this narrator.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did, i carried every where with me.
Any additional comments?
I'm waiting for the next one to come out on audio.

Great story but...
This story would have been 5* but for the narration! I have listened to other books that William has narrated and enjoyed them. This book I found very hard to finish, it was like listening to Compo out of Last of the summer Wine!! Needless to say I shall not bother listening to the rest of the series. A shame.

Good story but a little predictable
It had a predictable plot but was an enjoyable story. The voice used by the narrator for the Dragon sounded a little creepy but I liked how the characters had realistic traits. I would recommend this book. Good author too.

Sexy, stubborn Dragon Male
Be a sacrifice which means giving up her body to try and birth a dragon baby for a vial of blood which will cure her brother. Tristan was a human hating Dragon as well as being devilishly handsome and sexy he was abrupt and very stubborn. The best thing was that Melanie was even more stubborn than him. Tristan get attacked when trying to help save a teenager from his clan. He is almost dying when Melanie warns him he better let the doctors work on helping him. Can Tristan overcome his hatred of all Humans or will he push Melanie away for good. This is an awesome book and fantastic as the first copy in the Stonefire Dragons series. I have the whole series and I think I’ll have to buy the audible version for each book in the series. They are so worth it though. I’d give this book 10* stars if it was available.

Hey Dragon Man!
If Michelle Pillow writes light romantic books, Jessie Donovan turns the intensity up by 2 or 3 degrees.
This is my first Jessie Donovan book, but I'm quickly buying the rest of them on Audible. I just love the premise that these stories are built around. A beleaguered enclave of dragon shifters live in a tenuous truce with humanity. Their blood is much sought after, as it can heal most human illnesses, but in order for the humans to get some, they have to 'sacrifice' compatible human females willing submit for the purpose of procreation. (Female dragons are very rare, and in order to grow their population, the dragons have no choice but to mate with human females if they want to have children.)
There are some huge plot holes in this set up, (where are all the women? Why don't the humans attack in greater numbers and just take the blood?), but I'm willing to play along and hope that the missing bits are served up in subsequent books. (Like why they're called "British dragons." Other than the Scots brogue they have, the human women and the secondary characters, are all American.)
This episode finds Melanie Hall arriving at the enclave as the most recent sacrifice, and she has only volunteered in order to get the dragon blood to save her dying brother. Once we know this however, she doesn't bother to get in touch with her brother to make sure he's been cured, even though it's a call she could have made. That was kinda the whole point, right? Like I said, plot holes.
I have a ton of questions like these, and that would ordinarily drive me crazy. But I really loved this book. I think it's because the MCs are so well written, and their emotions just ring true. I got invested in the story, and that saved the book for me.
So . . . IF you can get past the plot holes, the writing is great. I particularly appreciated hearing the conversation between Tristan's human part and the dragon inside. The voice and dialogue for the dragon is hilarious -- all id -- and gives the book an originality I haven't seen before.
Matthew Lloyd Davies gives a great performance, and brings Tristan's dragon to ingenious life. It's worth the price of admission just to hear that dragon's dirty talk!
Highly Recommended

Awesome!! I loved it.
I have listened to over 200 audio books over the last 3 years and this is the first one I felt compelled to review. I loved the characters and their very human interactions. I will defiantly listen to more by this author.

Boring....nothing but mating
I am still trying to figure out the point of this book. Yes she got the dragon blood for her brother, and yes she was made pregnant by the dragon shifter, and yes she became his mate.
The protagonist were some dragon hunters.....but there wasn't much there, only one incidence of them because of some silly teenagers on a dare.
That is the whole story. She had the babies, and they lived happily ever after. Don't even know if her brother got healed, and her parents weren't there for the birth of their grandchildren.....missing so much.
Boring!

Dragon Shifter Romance? This is the series!
What made the experience of listening to Sacrificed to the Dragon the most enjoyable?
The fact that I had already read the book and now had the opportunity to hear it while I re-read it. I find that I really enjoy "Immersion Reading". It just makes the story that much richer.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character was Tristan. I like his personality and how he changes during the story. I'm also partial to Black Dragons.
What about Matthew Lloyd Davies’s performance did you like?
I loved the way his reading kept my attention. Not only did he change voice tones for different characters, but his voice flowed with the story. When things moved quickly, so did his voice. When things moved slowly, so did his voice. I found it unique and enjoyable.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Romance...Dragon Shifter Style!
Any additional comments?
If you love dragon shifters, this is the series for you! It has a well thought out story line and is a joy to read. The characters and settings are believable and well developed. The romance in the story works well and only makes the story richer. There are currently seven books in the series, with an eighth book due early next year. This Audible version is well narrated and I really enjoyed it. I hope this review helps you give the series a chance. Once you read it, you’ll be hooked. Happy reading! :)

Is it really a sacrifice?
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. As a huge fan of all Jessie Donovan Dragon books, hearing it was an all new, wonderful experience. If the only part that was audible was the dragon's internal conversations with Tristan it would have been worth it.
What other book might you compare Sacrificed to the Dragon to and why?
Although these are dragon shifters, and there are many good shifter books out there, with the actual voice of the dragon, the clan associations and common enemies this series is unique.
Have you listened to any of Matthew Lloyd Davies’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes and as always, he turns in a captivating performance.
Any additional comments?
Phenomenal start to a phenomenon. I started reading the Dragons with book two, Seduced by the Dragon, and went back to read this one and have read each book since. Now I have the audio as well and am thrilled.
Tristan is a real jerk, or at least that is Melanie's opinion. She has made the "sacrifice" to save her dying brother. Offering herself to have a dragonman's baby entitles her to a vile of life saving dragon's blood. Easy choice. However there is so much more involved then just having a baby. He hates humans, with reason, and is not shy about showing it. How is she supposed to get close enough to this egotistical, obnoxious man to get pregnant by him--naturally? Well, he is hot, I mean really hot and if rumors are right it should be a pleasurable experience, but still, it'd be nice to at least like the guy.
For those who haven't read any of Ms Donovan's books in the series, their dragons have a voice--not just a presence. They talk to their human and likewise human to dragon. Talk about randy devils.... It is one of my favorite things about the books. Then I listened to the audio and got "hear" the dragon AND I LOVED IT! Oh yeah, they are so funny and have no filter. Luckily for the humans only the other half of the dragon can hear him. However--now he has to control him. While Tristan's human part may resent her humanity, the dragon just wants her--in every way. To have sex through his human, to protect and care for. Tristan is not pleased--at first.
Can Mel show him she is not what his preconceived idea of a human is? Will her fire and spirit be able to stand up to man/beast?
There is so much in the book -- a sister who has been brutalized and is broken; can Mel help her? a clan who may be open to bridging the gap between dragon and human prejudices, and a man who could mean so much to her and she to him. Danger to a clan member and the team who try to rescue him.
You will love every minute. I cannot wait for more books to made into audios.
I did receive a gift of the audio for an honest review.

Enjoyed it!
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
This was well worth the credit. I liked the bossy woman and the broody dragon. It was refreshing romance story.
Has Sacrificed to the Dragon turned you off from other books in this genre?
This is the first Dragon shifter book I have ever read and I really liked that the two main characters really cared about each other. Some of the shifter books I have read are just sex, sex, and more rougher domineering sex without a good story line. But this has potential I am looking forward to the next book.
What about Matthew Lloyd Davies’s performance did you like?
He has a deep rich voice that is a pleasure to listen to.

I'd be the sacrifice!
What made the experience of listening to Sacrificed to the Dragon the most enjoyable?
The characters were funny and feisty. Melanie is no weak damsel in distress, and Tristan is tall sexy and an alpha Dragon whose inner dragon cracked me up, he kinda had a one track mind. There was steamy sex and hilarious dialogue. I finished this book in record time. I can't wait for the next one.
What other book might you compare Sacrificed to the Dragon to and why?
This was very different from most of the supernatural romances i've read. No sappy love story. Yes there is a happily ever after but it seemed very organic not forced.
What does Matthew Lloyd Davies bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His voices were spot on, especially the Dragon's voice . I still crack up thinking about it. He captured the Dragons personality perfectly.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
This Dragon doesn't breathe fire but there is plenty of heat
Any additional comments?
I hope the next one is just as fun to read or listen to.

Great story!
I loved the premise, the characters, the development of the characters throughout the book and can't wait for book 2. It rather reminded me of an Anne McCaffrey dragon novel with lots of sex.
