Engaging and skillfuly written.
This book covered a range of subjects, including addiction child custody, child abuse, the death of child and other issues that may be sensitive for some people.
Cat and Blake were high school sweethearts, first loves, and then she broke up with him, left home to get away from her abusive father. Now she is back after many years. Cat has been through a lot! Child abuse, traumatic brain injury, broken marriage and the lost of a child.
Blake is now divorced and a single dad to his 14 year old daughter. He and Cat now have a second chance at love but they have many twists and turns before they can have their HEA.
The story is skillfuly written, it is realistic, engaging and it was easy connect with all the emotions of the characters.

Fantastic Cowboy story!
This is a fantastically written and narrated story. I can’t get enough of this author’s books. The author has a wonderful way of drawing you into the storyline. She also has a way of telling the story that makes you see and feelings of the characters.
The narrator is exceptional narrator. He definitely has a unique way of given each character there own unique voice. Which makes is extremely easy to get drawn into the story and the characters lives. He is definitely one of my favorite narrator’s.

Sweet, Feel-Good Modern Western Romance
This story is a wonderful, emotionally charged, second chance romance. It is so sensitively written and narrated that the listener cannot help but relate to and feel for the characters. This story doesn't shy away from harder emotions and harder issues but still has the HEA the reader hopes for.
Cat and Blake have a strong history and a rekindled attraction that cannot be ignored. While they are the same people they once were, they are also very different. They have life experiences that colour the way they think and behave as well as affect the choices that they make. Life doesn't usually tie up issues in pretty little bows, and that certainly is true in this story. Cat and Blake have to decide whether they can pursue their second chance at love or meet the demands their lives have on them.
Overall, this is an enjoyable, touching romance with major feel-good factor.

Sometimes The Bad Brings Us The Good We Need!
Sometimes The Bad Brings Us The Good We Really Need!
This is book 2 of the Ridding Tall Series. It is my first of this series as I have not read any of the others.
Yet!
♥ Story ♥
19 years ago Cat Hayden left her home and heart behind for greener pastures. As we all know, the grass is rarely greener on the other side. Cat finds herself back home to care for her aging grandmother, with a new face and a new outlook. Her love from the past, Blake McBride, is still around but now with battle scars of his own as well as a teen daughter. Despite their past misadventures, the love they felt for each other never left their hearts.
Many obstacle get in the couples way. Some that makes your heart hurt for them and some that make you want to crawl through the page and punch a bitch in the face. The ex is a despicable person that will provoke the beast in you, just be warned.
♥ Author ♥
This is my first read by Cheyenne McCray. She is definitely good at writing the villains, cause I really wanted to stab one of them with a fork. I would for sure read another work from this author and more than likely the next one will be another in this series.
♥ Narrator(s) ♥
David Quimby's voice works perfectly for a western. It has that raw edge to it that just sounds rugged with a layer of dust or dirt you would see on the clothing of a cowboy.
The ebook can be found through your local library. It may need to be recommended through the overdrive system.

My 1st Cheyenne McCray – It Won't Be My Last!
🏇 Cat Hayden has been away from her childhood home since her senior year of high school. She has recovered from an accident that has left her almost unrecognizable and insecure. It is been a long time but she decides to come back to care for her ailing grandmother.
Blake and Cat were together all through high school until Cat skipped town without so much as a goodbye to Blake. Now, Blake is a well-to-do rancher with a 14-year-old daughter from a previous marriage.
Cat and Blake do reconnect almost immediately. Blake's daughter is in Cat's 4H riding class. Will his daughter, Demi, ever get used to the idea of her father with anyone but her mother? Will the excitement of being back together continue to be a thrill? Or will outside forces ruin any dreams, plans or goals for the newish couple?
This is a really nice story with relatable characters. There are some mature/intimate scenarios that are not suitable for younger audiences. I would only recommend it for ages 18+
Dave Quimby is an exceptional performer. The majority of the characters in this book are female and his performance gave each of them a unique voice. His portrayal of Blake was perfect – I could envision Blake (the cover helped as well *wink*)
I will give this book and overall rating of 4.5 stars. Wonderful !

Roping Your Heart
I really enjoyed this installment in the series.
I am still not a big fan of the narrations he sounds just too old for the characters.
I liked that Cat wasn’t overly dramatic about her past, it was just what it was and she was moving on from it.
I liked Blake for the most part, there was one scene with a 16 yr old boy he kicked out of his house it just left a bad taste in my mouth like it was just unnecessary. Even being a single father and seeing that they were actually studying it was just too much. But say la vee, the rest of the book was enjoyable.

A Single Dad cowboy and a second chance at love!
This was my first Cheyenne McCray book and I found it very enjoyable. The story and the characters were just wonderful.
This was also my first narrated book by David Quimby. He was able to narrate all characters very well with distinction between the male and female characters. Very well done.

BELIEVABLE REAL LIFE SITUATIONS AND A HEA
Any additional comments?
I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.
This was a real sweet, second chance romance. The multiple subplots could have been expanded to make a longer, more interesting book but it was well done for under 6 hours of listening. There were 19 years from when our H/h last saw each other. Initially I thought "Good. I like more mature adult romances." Unfortunately for me, very little concentration was put on their being middle-aged. Not even a groan when they got out of bed -LOL.
That said, the characters, the situations, the attraction, all made for a fine romance. The narrator's voice is perfect for this type of country western setting. He has just the slightest drawl and slowness in talking that southern/western USA dictates. Great job!
Two Thumbs Up.

Beautiful Story
Cat, Blake and Demi utterly steal the heart. This is an incredibly sweet story! I was so upset with Blake's ex-wife, but we also get to learn about forgiveness too in this book. The narration is really solid, and kept me engrossed in a well written book. Beautiful second chance at love, and really appreciating the people we have in our life. This is a voluntary review of an audiobook gifted. I truly loved this book. It certainly left me feeling very positive. Highly enjoyable and recommend!
