Summary

As her first London Season looms before her, the thought of the impending social whirl fills Daphne Lancaster's timid heart with dread. She hasn't her sisters' beauty nor their talent for conversing easily. Even her family's enviable connections may not be enough to prevent disaster. But Daphne's misery turns to surprised delight when the first event of her Season brings an unexpected visitor to her door - James Tilburn, whose tender kindness stole her heart in her youth. When the handsome young gentleman expresses his desire to court her, Daphne is elated. Their feelings for each other quickly grow, and it appears that, much to Daphne's disbelief, her happily ever after is within reach.

Yet nothing is as it seems. The couple find themselves caught in a tangled web of greed and deceit, leaving James and Daphne to determine whether they are willing to risk everything for true love.

Lovely 3rd installment

I enjoyed this story immensely. I love the Duke of Kielder and was glad to see he and Persephone were such a big part of this book. Daphne was delightful, and James was wonderful. this was a very entertaining read/listen. There were several parts I laughed out loud. My only hold up was the narrator. It took me probably more than half the book to get used to her voice. I didn't like how she made Persephone sound like she was always laughing. In the end, I did get used to her and she did a good job.

Good story, mismatched narrator

No criticism of these well-developed and interesting characters, nor of the writing and plot. There were the usual grammatical errors. However, was unable to listen to the audio book. The narrator was not able to disappear into the story. She was "off" enough to call attention to the mismatch. Could not listen. I read the ebook instead.

English romance read with an American accent-UGH!

I couldn't past the first sentence as soon as I realized it was read with an American accent. That's just wrong! Back it goes.

I must’ve listened to a different book

The reviews for this book were overwhelmingly positive. I, however, had to drag myself through the last 6 hours and only did so because I didn’t want to feel like I wasted my money. The narration was awful. The voices for both of James’s parents were absolutely cringeworthy. His dad sounded like a poor impression of Scar from The Lion King! Artemis was, no doubt, written to be a bit of comic relief but her over-the-top drama lacked the charm of, say, an Anne of Green Gables. It came off more petulant brat. This series started off so entertaining but took a hard left at this story for me. I doubt I will buy any others past this one.

Such a Beautiful Story!

I completely adored this book! The audio narration was wonderfully done and the story was one that made me feel the sadness and aching heart of Daphne, when, at times, she felt very overlooked. It also made me feel the deepness of love and care that eventually and slowly developed between James and Daphne. It was wonderful to have Adam and Persephone in the story, as well, along with some time with Linus and Artemis. I loved this story from start to finish and it is one I will want to listen to again and again.

Loved the book

Love the story. Well told, great insight into the characters, their insecurities, hopes, and the challenges that they overcome. Very much enjoyed listening to the story on audible We think it’s the best book so far in the Lancaster series.

Brilliant…

I loved this book. It was nice to show how even shy people can come out of their shells. Sometimes the quietest ones are the funniest ones you’ve got to watch out for

Anything with the Duke of Kielder is a winner

I adore this series and this one was no different. They are pure joy to read and now listen to. Seeking Persephone...the first in this series is one of my favorite books of all time 💕🤗
