Summary
Reality's best defense has been sabotaged.
Its guardians have been slaughtered or corrupted.
Can a handful of misfits become the heroes humanity needs?
At a barren survivalist bunker in the middle of frozen nowhere, a team of eight rebels are all that stand between the world and a nightmare apocalypse:
- The Saint
- The Dreamer
- The Warrior
- The Musician
- The Golemancer
- The Sniper
- The Hitman
- The Clown
Their powers are failing. Their resources are gone. But saving the world starts with defending their children and loved ones, and they will fight until the snow runs red with blood, magic, and the red sands of Armageddon.
Righteous Eight is the fourth and final audiobook in Words of Power, a dark academia urban fantasy quartet. Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets the Umbrella Academy with a morally gray ensemble cast full of found family, wild brawls, and spicy m/f and m/m Gothic romance.

The grand finale is... GRAND!
Glorious. Absolutely glorious end to the series. The characters continue to be a delight to read with wonderfully distinct points of view and character voice. This whole series has continued to deliver on promises of intense, messy, and deeply real interpersonal relationships. Like with any good finale, book 4 builds on that groundwork and doesn't pull any punches. Let us not forget the culmination of an entire series worth of clues and hints to the true nature of magic in the world and the challenges they must face to save it. No spoilers because man do I hate spoilers, but the reveals are really really cool.
VK Fox has a great writing style that is fun and fast-paced. I love the inclusive characters, diverse representation, healthy romance, and just... all of it. I need to stop talking before I start spoiling things. Please, don't take my word for it. Go check this book out for yourselves.

A fairly solid conclusion
So I enjoyed it overall.
Were there some problems? A few.
The story starts out with action and lets you do in the blanks as it goes. The problem is it does that a lot, Things changing or happening and then you have to back intuit it felt. Or I could've possibly missed key points where the person traveling back was mentioned, but I'm usually better at that. I had to back up a few times because I felt I missed something, but that's much harder to do in an audio book.
Also, no plot twist. Like there is, but it's so obvious I was practically yelling at the main cast at one point.
But, it's still solid for what it is. There was joy and sadness, a bittersweet end in some ways but still enjoyable.
As before, if you're homophobic you won't enjoy, but you surely would've figured that out before now. The story is good enough and the smut tame enough I could get by to enjoy.

Thoroughly enjoyed!
Once again VK Fox has caught and kept my attention. She creates such vivid, heart pounding scenes with her flawed, sometimes tragic characters and their bravery. I loved the way she wrapped everything up and rather than give a blow by blow description I’ll just urge you to try this author. Unique, offbeat, and exciting with some tenderness.
