Does not disappoint!
If you enjoyed the first book then I’m sure you’ll enjoy this, there’s a lot more world building which I really enjoyed and the character building is great.
If you’ve read the first then I recommend this one too👏

Solid progression in this instalment
As this is only the second book in the series, you could technically catch up with what happened in book one, but that would be a mistake in my view as you wouldn't appreciate the series as much, so if you are considering this book, go and read the previous one first.
This book builds nicely on the previous one, steadily expanding both the mechanics of the skill system and the world-building and lore of this universe, resulting in the series coming to life still further. There was one moment that felt a little rushed in the context of the series as a whole, but didn't detract greatly from my enjoyment of the book.
The narrator delivered another strong performance with distinctive tones that further enhanced my immersion and enjoyment of the book.
Overall, this book contributes good progress to the series while being an enjoyable listen in it's own right.

Not Bad
This 2nd audiobook in the series wasn’t too bad just not enough action for the readers attention until near the end. I did like the journey of the main characters and how they were progressing but half way through I was finding it hard to keep reading as to me this is aimed at teenagers. I eventually finished it and looking back I’ve read worse.
The narration was spot on so the listener could differentiate between characters.

The Bright strike back
This is a good story but..... It's a microwave meal rather than a roast dinner. It fills a gap, there are a few hot spots but overall it could have been a whole lot more fulfilling.
A LitRPG with pointless stats that seem to appear from nowhere and mean nothing, the big bits of the story come frome nowhere and then ding from uncooked mess to meal for one.
The overall story has promise but like the first book seems to want to rush to it's end.
It isn't terrible but it could have been so much more.
Some Star Wars vibes and a good narrator kept me interested and I will check out the next in the series.
Hopefully like the main character it will be a little beefier.

Super sequel!
I really enjoyed this continuation of the story. In a lot of the ways I felt like this was a stronger book than the first book. It really took the premise that the first book established and ran with it. The narration was solid and did a great job with a wide cast of characters.

I can't wait to see where this gamelit goes!
The Bright Retaliate follows right on the heels of The Bright Lord... a book I loved, and although this book is a slower burn, it gives Ryan and his team of survivors a chance to recoup and gain some much-needed power through the process of cultivation! So even though it was slower, I appreciated how the overall story ARC is going...
Steve Campbell did his usual bang-up job narrating this!

Fantastic Story
I love books like this, but not all of them are for me. I've read a few series like this one and while some of them have the video-game like elements that are first and forefront (you get sucked into a game, or you KNOW you're in a game). Where, with The Bright so far, they are there (setting up skills based on skill points earned) but it's more in the background. The Bright series has absolutely got my attention and I'm really intrigued where Knowles is going to take it.
In Retaliate we learn more and more about each character and find out a lot more of the secrets from this world. We are also treated to some romance and some kinship between some of the characters that was a really nice break in the breakneck pace of some of the action scenes.
One of the best parts of this is that even though it's a book two, we still get a nice story arc. You can tell there's a larger and longer arc for the series - but this book itself read like its own story and had a beginning, a middle, and an end. (I mention this because a lot of book two's seem to be just a "to be continued" kind of story without any kind of ending).
The narration by Steve Campbell is also great. There was a choice he made for one of the characters that at first I was confused by, but I actually went back to figure out why he did that and I think it made sense. It was a bit raspy at first and kind of pulled me out of the story, but then I realized it was a good choice and it stopped bothering me. I wanted to point it out because Campbell is an excellent narrator and sometimes you have to trust their choices. Bray did similar things in the Hell Divers books and they're some of my favorite moments in those books.
Overall, Retaliate was an excellent book and a great addition to this series.

Fantastic series!💜
This series is exciting and fresh. I’m really enjoying this series and although it’s a fantasy I find many of the situations are what we face every day in the real world. Strong characters, new discoveries and heartbreaking moments make this a fantastic read/listen.
The narration is absolutely amazing. Steve Campbell does a wonderful job bringing the listener into the story with all the different characters and accents. I recommend this book/series!

it's rare that the sequel is better
since the basics are covered in book 1 we just get to lean back and enjoy the show...
and the friggin' show ought to be on Broadway and getting a movie adaptation, because damn it's been a long time since I was this entertained by a litRPG...
we get to know more about the world, Ty and the overarching plot as well as enjoy the 8th wonder of the world which is the voice of Steve Campbell...
I finished this book the same day less than 12 hours after downloading it I'm writing this review.

More Action in Book 2
Another fun short story in this series. Here we see some fast character growth of MCs and a bit more action than the first. Quick and interesting listen. If you enjoyed book 1, you should be happy with this one too.
More great work by SC with this narration. As always, good energy, emotion, and range of voices.

Worth it!
It was short, but worth the credit. I really enjoy the narrator and the different voices he uses for each of the characters. I really feel the story, and like the characters.
The ending has me scrambling to grab the next in the series. Well done Alex Knowles. Well done.

Solid build of a second book in a series
This is the 2nd book in a series that I am quite enjoying. Waiting to listen to the next one. This book focuses heavily on the training and the breaking down of the barriers the MC is facing. There are reveals to the assassination of the royal family and many other revealing bits in this story. I can’t wait to see how it all
Flushes out. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

engaging!
Good story and narration!
Tytan and the rest of the gang are back! Having just fled their training planet, they must see to their wounded as best as they're able, and find a new safe Haven in which to train up to fight their dreaded foe.
Steve did a fantastic job with the narration!
This was a good continuation of the series.
I can't wait to find out what happens next!
