Summary
Three women. One mission. Enemies everywhere.
May 1944. When spy Elisabeth de Mornay, code name Cécile, notices a coded transmission from an agent in the field does not bear his usual signature, she suspects his cover has been blown - something that is happening with increasing frequency. With the situation in occupied France worsening and growing fears that the Resistance has been compromised, Cécile is ordered behind enemy lines.
Having rendezvoused with her fellow agents, Léonie and Dominique, together they have one mission: help the Resistance destabilise German operations to pave the way for the Normandy landings.
But the life of a spy is never straightforward, and the in-fighting within the Resistance makes knowing who to trust ever more difficult. With their lives on the line, all three women will have to make decisions that could cost them everything - for not all their enemies are German.

Absolute belter, thoroughly recommend it!
I loved City of Spies, and this book is a terrific sequel in the series - I thoroughly enjoyed it!. Everything from the intricately woven plot, to the compelling characters, and historical attention to detail, provides a fantastic journey from start to finish for the listener. In addition, the narration of this book is superb and really helps you to get a more nuanced feel to the main character.

Very good.
Excellent follow up to City of Spies and an enjoyable listen from start to finish. The extra short story tying up one loose end.

Timon and Atherton!!! The perfect pair.
So sad to have finished this book, which I started immediately after finishing City of Spies. Loved them both. Great historical fiction, combining great characters, a superbly described setting which really takes you there, and fascinating times and places in history. Atherton reads superbly and in my mind (or ear) perfectly resembles the lead character Elisabeth.
100% recommend for fans of historical fiction a la William Boyd, Ken Follett et al.

Cecille is my hero!
Another fantastic story for our beloved Cecille, this adventure is told brilliantly and is a must for City of Spies lovers.
I loved the characters and story/plot.
Don’t want to ruin the story line so I’ll say no more.
Please, give it a go, you won’t regret it.

Too complicated and convoluted
Not nearly as believable as the previous novel. So complex that it was difficult to follow. Struggled to listen to the end.

Hysterical narrator
Great story full of drama. I had forgotten I had listened to her first book City of Spies. Had I remembered I would have read this book rather than listened to it. Kristin Atherton, the narrator, tries too hard and manages to make a good story into an irritating listen. Her over dramatic style is dreadful and completely spoilt it for me. A book really worth reading but not a good audiobook. I would not recommend it as an audible choice but great on kindle.

unrealistic
Rather repetative, poor characterisation and i could not feel any real interest in any of the characters or the story.

Good story, average performance
Enjoyed the story but didn't take to the narrator at all. To narrate scenes with tension she just raised her voice. Rather than building tension she just started shouting! Could have been much better.
