Summary
I woke from cryostasis a prisoner. My crime? I have no idea.
I was stuck with a hundred other women, all headed to who knows where. Captive in a dank, dirty cargo hold. Then, out of the darkness, came Solair.
A handsome alien. Golden skinned. Horned. The dashing captain of a pirate ship. They rescued us - he gave my people food, shelter, and promised us safety. In exchange? He took me for himself.
But the people who captured us, haven't given up. They want us back. They're powerful and will do whatever it takes to find us. The only thing stopping them? Solair.
He wants me. And what he takes...he keeps.
Contains mature themes.

Great narration. Interesting plot. Shitty heroine.
Good initial story building and plot premise. The male lead and other male characters are pretty solid and enjoyable. Narration is stellar. Could have been a great book except....Can't get past the God awful women in this book! The heroine (who is supposedly ex-military and should behave better) is selfish, spoiled, ungrateful, unreasonable and down right unenjoyable. Her uncomplimentary attitude seems to be mirrored among most of the female characters in this story. Very seriously, wish I could enjoy the book but spent most of my time angrily wishing I could slap some sense into all these ridiculous entitled bitches. I hope this isn't a common theme in the series but I'm not sure if I'm willing to find out.

Don't publish a fanfiction.
People fantasize about things they would absolutely DO NOT want to happen in real life. But as soon as you write a book based on it, it's going to be ridiculous because it's not within the context of your daydream anymore. Like the idea of a sexy pirate guy with two dicks stealing you away might be a fun evening thought for the author, but the very act of publishing is asking the audience to take the day dream seriously. [ And I can't] I found the book to be very predictable with a LOT of cliché's. I guessed the entire story by chapter two, and waited to be surprised. The "Overall Conflict" that has nothing to do with the romance of the story is only hinted at and just when I thought it might be explored it diverts to a cringe sex scene or a silly romantic 'delay' even though it doesn't cast any true doubt in a readers mind exactly what is going to happen in the end anyway. This were wildly convenient explanations for a lot of the story that felt a little lazy, and some of the justifications that happened made me want to roll my eyes. The male is a "Mary sue", and is depicted unrealistically and lacks any true flaws or weaknesses. Even when he 'loses his tempter' he immediately recovers in the error of his ways. I also detest the notion that a "independent woman" has to be rude, selfish, and wildly inconsiderate, Its a poor example of feminism, which is immediately stomped on by patriarchal values splashed all over the story anyway. This feels like a 1x1 Roleplay with some smut that occurred between two people for fun, and then was smashed together into a sloppy book. I feel like I don't need to read the next book because I feel like already know what is going to happen. Overall the whole thing was a little immature for my taste. This isn't a story with a plot, a conflict, a climax, and a resolution. Its a story where two people meet, bicker, have sex, and mate. OH yeah and I guess they're in space too.

Throw her out the airlock!
This could have been a fun, new book and series to enjoy but the female lead is absolutely infuriating. The ship of males save the women from a dying ship and the the heroine is rude, ungrateful and very demanding. If I was on the ship with her I'd be tempted to send her out the airlock or at the very least lock her up in a waaay back room where I couldn't hear her. Unfortunately she is constantly in everyone's face bitching and whining to the point that I can't even try to grit my teeth through the rest of the book.

Not as good as I hoped...
Usually a big fan of Athena's work, was really let down by this one. The heroine is petulant and stubborn to a fault with a need to be in control at all times. Couldn't get past her personality enough to finish the book.

I tried twice…
I tried to listen to this book 2 different times after giving a space between times. However, I just cannot do it. There are ways to make a female character lead a wary without being a complete and utter brat to the point of rudeness and just being ridiculous. All she did was complain, demand, and fuss and still sweating. Do you have to come in here yet? Drain off now in Living Room the entire time.
