Summary

Sammi is having the worst weekend. When what was supposed to be a secluded romantic getaway turns into a near-death experience when she is stranded alone in the mountains during a snowstorm by her two-timing boyfriend. Sammi faces a desperate situation. With no cell service, dwindling food supplies, and a power outage, she doesn't think it could get worse until an accident leaves her unconscious and vulnerable. When she comes to, she awakens to find herself in a warm cabin, and her rescuer a creature of fantasy - an orc. And he thinks that she will be a perfectly obedient pet. Ha! He wishes.

Orgath is an exile, the son of a vanquished chieftain of his clan. His days and nights are spent alone more often than not. When he finds a tiny human while hunting in the human world his compassion moves him to rescue the little thing and bring her home as a companion. He quickly finds out that there is a lot more to humans than orc-kind has believed.

When things starting heating up and passion ignites between them, they discover the potential for a lot more in their relationship than either could have imagined.

Grear Fun

narrator did a sterling job of this book had to do a vast amount of diverse characters from a unicorn to anged old lady orc !.
The story is just great fun pure escapism

Good story but 'female voice' acting put me off

Voice acting was a little bit too American female brat stereotype which put me off the story a bit but other than that an enjoyable listen.

A hot monster romance where Consent is Sexy!

I am delighted. Such a fun and and hot monster romance. While the world building is impressive as well, it just doesn´t feel like the main purpose of the story. The main purpose being fun and hot. And absolutely wonderful. I am on the hunt for new favorite authors, and have found one more. Very well written, impressingly good storyline and worldbuilding, as well as dialog and characters. Both the snarky heroine and her sexy moster are awesome, lovely supporting cast and endless possibilities. I am sulking as the second book in the series isn´t available on audio. I want the next story!
Oh and that narrator, a gem. Next level voice acting.

A pleasant surprise

Ever start a book and not expect much but want a light read? Omg. I was so pleasantly suppried with this book! I laughed so much at this and it was hot and well written! I expected it to end when the main er. .. "issue" was done in the book.(no spoilers) But was very nice when it continued on for a while longer. Very happy suprise in this book and I was quickly looking for more by this writer.

The reading was slightly off putting at first but soon settled. Was just a bit jarring to start

Cute storyline

This book was so funny; the narrator did a good job with male voices, but could use a female narrator for female voices to eliminate the gruffness and sound more feminine. Will listen to more books in this series.

Cute couple

I was surprised that I really enjoyed this book and glad I gave it a try, Sammi and Orgath made a cute couple. I love how they came to fall in love and she looked past the fact that he was an orc. Sammi was a little spitfire and I love how she stood up to Orgath. They made a trip through the portal to her parents house. There were some really funny scenes, especially since the orcs are not used to modern technology,

JR Burgess did a good job with the narration. I received this free copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Original

Original but also R rated, so not for Young Adults unfortunately. Unfortunately l say as it would be a great story for that age bracket. It also has F and C words for those not so comfortable with that language. I really enjoyed the storyline. The narrator's voice suited the characters too.

An Orc Romance!

This was an enjoyable, relaxing, hot romance. Lighthearted, sexy and fun.
No emphasis on drama, which I always appreciate.
It starts out with romance and erotica, but more world building is added later in the story (I liked both).
Definitely for Adults only.

The story is told from the point of view of our 2 main characters, Sammi (a human female) and Orgath (an orc male).
Both parts are narrated by the same person (a man).
The male (Orgath) part was excellently narrated (I loved the gruffness!).
The performance for the female (Sammi) part was good too, but it didn’t totally convince me I was listening to a woman, which drew me a bit out of the story now and then.

I got this Audio Book for free (thanks!). I'm voluntarily leaving this review.

Story sucks and narration is worse

The story is completely ridiculous. Absolutely terrible writing which is sad because the premise is new which doesn't happen often in romance genre (never seen an orc rance before lol) it had promise but between the terrible writing, uneven plot pacing and absolutely horrible narration I couldn't get past chapter 3. Its narrated by a guy but he does a weird me dumb orc grunt voice for the ML and sounds like a gay clickishly attitude guy when he does the FL, ugh.

LIVE IT!!!

Okay this is a really really really, did I say really good book?! I have listened to this audio book at least 4 times and each time I’ll hear a little something new. The story line is believable, the companionship to friendship to lovers is smooth and not forced or rushed. I definitely would recommend this book!

Didn’t know I needed orc love!

I loved this! This was my first orc love fantasy romance, but it definitely won’t be my last! Great story with a good amount of sexy and funny. Just what I needed! I’m looking forward to the next in the series!

The narrator did a great job. It was easy to figure out the character’s voices and he’s on point with the inflection.

Pretty good

I had read the book a few times and liked it. The sample of the narrator was ok, so I thought I would give it a shot. Sometimes when the narrator was doing Orgath’s voice, it was a little over the top. Reminded me of a dad reading a fairy tale and trying to do a dragons voice. The troll’s voice sounded a little like he was raised in Antebellum Georgia. Sammy’s parents had a bit of a Wisconsin accent, even though they were from Anchorage. Are the accents similar? At first, Sammy’s younger brother sounded like he was 12, but then thankfully got older sounding since it was implied he was dating one of the orcs at the end. Still, I did enjoy it, and don’t regret the purchase.

Great story, narrator was a bit rough at first

I enjoyed the story, it was definitely a great listen. However, it took me a little bit to get used to the narrator.
