About this listen
How did a shaky startup defy expectations and become the world's leading spaceflight company? Get the untold story of the team of game-changers, led by a well-known billionaire, who are sending NASA astronauts to space—and just might carry the human race to Mars.
One company dominates the modern space industry: SpaceX, founded by controversial entrepreneur Elon Musk in 2002, now sending more payloads into orbit than the rest of the world combined. But Musk didn't do it alone; the saga of SpaceX is the story of a diverse cadre of true believers in the limitless potential of space travel.
For the first time, Reentry relates the definitive chronicle of how this daring team was able to redefine what it takes to reach the stars.
With Pulitzer Prize-nominated journalist Eric Berger, author of Liftoff, as your guide, you'll accompany SpaceX's innovative thinkers during their toughest trials and most audacious moments, including:
- Creating the first orbital rockets that land by themselves and fly again
- Transporting a 120-foot rocket from Texas to Florida
- Recovering from a "Hell's Bells" accident before the first Falcon Heavy launch
- Frantically searching the ocean for the first rocket that splashed down intact
- Identifying the twenty-dollar part that led to a rocket exploding in flight
- Slicing up an engine days before it launched into space
From launchpad explosions to a pernicious cricket infestation to the demanding management style of Musk himself, the rise of SpaceX was beset with challenges and far from inevitable. Find out how the startup beat the odds and flew high enough to outpace their rivals... and where they're going next.

The factual details
Very well done. A truly superb Part One history of Elon Musk’s rocket developments and the start of carrying humans into space aboard his Dragon capsule. I really look forward to parts two, three and four - by which time he’ll have started landing supplies, construction materials and multiple rovers on Mars. Maybe even people. I’m quite sure he’s been partly influenced by the book ‘’Red Mars’’!
Can’t wait for fiction to become fact - which he’s doing all the time of course, let’s hope he doesn’t waste too much time on Earthly things like politics and that he doesn’t go too overboard. We definitely don’t want him to lose it all in some avoidable disaster.
Anyway, go Elon go..

Simply brilliant and insightful
there's so much contained in this book that even an avid space engineering fan like me didn't know and it's told from a very human perspective. I'll probably spend a few weeks brooding on it, then listen again. hopefully, when Starship is a success and if Musk hasn't tarnished the world stage against him, Burger can get a third book out featuring the world's bumbling catch up, orbital refuelling, the next age of space stations, and the founding of humans on the moon and mars.

Enjoyable, inspiring and informative
After liftoff I was early in the queue for this book. We’ll read and incredibly well researched. I am very grateful to Eric for the effort put in to create this wonderful read.
It is inspiring to hear the behind the scenes of what we publicly see. SpaceX is risen to inspiring heights and it is a little sobering to consider the future. I really hope they carry on and get to Mars.

The storytelling, the details, the excitement!
There were a few audible mistakes by the narrator, but overall a beautiful listening experience! Eric Berger at it again with beautiful storytelling
I disagree with his views on X and its importance, but have to agree on the 3 core risks facing spaceX and the tantalising future Starship could bring
Thank you Eric for an amazing book!
