Love versus Hatred

Tia Louise did a fantastic job with this modern day spin of Romeo and Juliet! Angelica and Deacon’s story is very emotionally charged and filled with lies, secrets, love and sexy times! I was surprised how both families were so willing to hold onto hatred and untruthful events spun by those who had the most to lose. It was only through Deacon and Angelica’s love for one another and their desire to defy the prejudices against their union that the truth is discovered. Jason Clarke’s deep, sexy voice gives me all the feels. Samantha Brentmoor brings Angelica’s emotions, desires, uncertainty and strength to life with her performance. I loved it!

Even better in audio!!

I read this book in record time but when the audiobook hit, I knew I had to have and listen immediately even though I'd barely finished my ARC. The narrators are just great! Jason Clark is an amazing Deacon. He strong and dominant and he shows it! Samantha Brentmoor nailed Angel! She comes off soft but had that steal behind her. The audiobook just brings them to life... I rated the book 5 stars and wish I could rate the audiobook higher because it adds this pulse that the ebook was missing. So FANTASTIC!!

Sigh… I just love getting a new book from Tia Louise. I try hard to hold back and not read it like a lush but it really can’t be helped. I’m obsessed. Louise created one of her deepest love stories yet. I was so entranced in Angel and Deacon’s story that I stayed up until 4am finishing this book. Angel and Deacon’s families are not friends… in fact; they dislike each other so much that you get the Hatfield and McCoy’s vibe. Just like the historical family feud, Trevino and Dring have some bitter grudges that seem to span generations.

I feel like we get just a smidge of Louise’s suspense in this book… I’ve missed it to be honest. The Dirty Players and the Bright Light series have been my favorites from her but now this one joins the older series. I loved the forbidden aspect of this story and the way Deacon started to unravel the story of his and Angel’s families past. Louise’s writing is impressive. The heat level was through the rough… perhaps it’s the forbidden aspect to it but Lord have MERCY… this was HAWT!

Love concurs all

Decan loves Angel and has for years. They have kept their love secret because neither family would understand. As time goes on it is inevitable the family will find out and when they do things explode. Decan is determined to have his Angel and to do so he must find out what the secrets are that their grandparents carried to their graves.

This book is full of love between two young people that are not destined to be together but despite it all, love concurs all in the end. There is prejudice on both sides of the families and danger and surprises along the way. Their love will heal all the past and move forward to a better future for all of them.

Jason Clarke and Samantha Brentmoor were great narrating this book. I love Jason's deep voice and Samantha had Angel's accent down perfectly.

I loved listening to this book and highly recommend it.

Sweet story

This was a sweet story, not my favorite but and I feel like some questions never got answered but in the end it was a sweet story .

Solid Listen

I am usually a huge fan of Tia Louise's stories. I'm not sure if it's the audio or the story but I wasn't as engaged by the storyline of this one compared to her other books.

The book focuses on Angelica and Deacon. As children, their paths cross and a friendship develops. As they age their friendship develops into more. However, their families disapprove of their relationship.

3.5 Stars - Modern Romeo & Juliet

This was a good read. I’m giving it 3.5 out of 5 stars. Thanks to the publicist for providing me an audiobook; this review reflects my honest opinion.

I liked the narrators, and I also liked both Deacon and Angelica (Angel). Despite being a modern Romeo and Juliet, their love was pure and unbreakable. There was definitely steam in this book, and some of the moments were fire! The fact that Angel was an artist made me relate to her character more since I also enjoy being creative, but in different ways. While I didn't relate to Deacon, I thought he was a great guy.

I liked Angel’s friend Lourdes, but I didn’t enjoy either of the families much. I wanted to see a bit more of the past, and their relationship progressing; the wooing part of the story was well and truly over as they’ve been together a while. Regardless, this was entertaining overall.

Perfection

Jason Clarke and Samantha Brentmoor were the most perfect voices for these characters. I really feel each narrator became one with each of these characters and brought them to life in a way that was pure perfection. I don't think I could have imagined better voices for these characters.

Deacon and Angel's story was just the perfect emotional, caught between two worlds story that was just such a magical escape. The way the author describes everything makes me feel like I am one with the story between the back drop and the thought processes of the characters and their feelings. Truly I was addicted and lost a night's sleep not wanting to let go of these characters and needing to know what was going to happen with no breaks. This book was an incredible read, an incredible escape and just pure romance magic.

Love conquers ALL

How strong is love? How much are you willing to fight for it? Will you let anything stand in your way for your one true love? Deacon and Angel love story starts out unexpected. But can you fall in love at first sight? As you read this story, you will journey through the ups and downs Deacon and Angel goes through to there HEA.

Captivating

This is a modern take on Romeo and Juliet. I had read the book in one sitting and really enjoyed it but hands down the audiobook was just phenomenal. Jason is one of my favorite narrators and he killed this book with his flawless narration. I was absolutely mesmerized. This was first time I have listened to Samantha and she also did a great job. I enjoyed her narration. Both these authors gave live to this story. Tia is a fantastic author. You just can go wrong with her books. Her writing is poetically beautiful and the story plot & characters were utterly Stunning and captivating . I really enjoyed this book.

Romeo and Juliet with a HEA!

There is just something about Tia Louise's books that takes my breath away and just sucks me in and never lets go! Deacon is one of a kind. All he ever wants is to spend his life loving Angel and making her happy. Angel fell in love with Deacon when they were young. Even as a young girl, she knew the connection they shared was real and worth fighting for.

Deacon says it best. "It's a good omen. It's like us - I'm the raw ingredients, and she's the color, the music, and the flavor."

Even with so many cards stacked against them and their families feuding for years, they remained dedicated, committed, and true to each other and their love. Deacon and Angel would not let anything or anyone come between them and their powerful connection. This story has so much romance, drama, intrique, and even danger. I was so engrossed in the story and couldn't wait to see how it would all end! I loved the Romeo and Juliet vibes.

I absolutely loved the narration by Jason Clarke and Samantha Brentmoor. They brought all the emotions, all the drama and all the steamy romance to life. It was a wonderful listen. Deacon and Angel had so much to fight for, and the depth of their love spoke to my heart. I couldn't help but root for them! What an beautiful story proving that love gives hope and anything is possible! It was romantic, emotional and so heartfelt.
