Summary

Billionaire. Next-door neighbor. Mortal enemy.

I knew it was a bad idea to get on the elevator.

Because now, I have three problems.

Number one, I’m stuck in the elevator.

Number two, I’m soaking wet from the rain.

Number three, he got in before the doors closed.

Miles Humphries.

My neighbor. The one I hate

Cocky. Tall. Infuriatingly hot. The biggest jerk I’ve ever met.

Mr. Bachelor-for-Life and I, Rose Taylor, are like night and day.

I’m reserved; he’s the life of the party.

I love my cat; he loves his motorcycle.

I live quietly; he lives to annoy me.

Imagine my jaw dropping when he asks me to be his fake fiancée.

And move in with him.

Together with my cat.

Hello? That’s disaster waiting to happen.

It’s insulting, ridiculous, and inappropriate.

But then he makes me an offer I can’t refuse.

And suddenly, I’m engaged and living with my nemesis.

Did I say he’s torturously sexy? Sinfully tattooed?

Not that it matters.

He wasn’t supposed to give me the best kiss of my life.

I wasn’t supposed to like his deliciously naughty rumblings in my ear.

Or crave the toe-curling nights.

And I sure as hell wasn’t supposed to fall for the world’s biggest heartthrob, Miles Humphries.

A sexy enemies-to-lovers romance from USA Today best-selling author Jolie Day. Come see what happens when the sinful bad boy and the good girl next door collide. Literally.

Stand-alone romantic comedy, no cliffhanger. Jolie Day is Team Happily Ever After.

The elevator doors are closing; jump on in!

All the problems when trying to deceive

Miles is a playboy and so his dad has threatened to deny his inheritance when he reaches 27 yrs old if Miles doesn't settle down.
This is when he concocts the idea of a fake fiance for the next 6 months using Rose his next door neighbour who has suffered some financial issues.
I really enjoyed this romcom and the narrators did an awesome job ❤

Too much sexual content

I'm sure it may be a great book. For me a couple of p***y, or f***, may be ok, but I only listened for a few chapters and had to turn it off. The talk about threesome's and p**** was so much it was almost nauseating. If you have no problem with that, I'm sure the book is good, but it was just too much for me. I hate that I wasted money on this.

Pretty good 😊

The story was pretty good. The female lead was so too over everything. I don’t know how many times I rolled my eyes about that woman. There were several times that I would skip forward a minute or two during her chapters.

Great story

Liked story didn’t like female narration. So slow and deliberate speech. No one talks so slowly in real life. If not for male narration would not rate so high.

Absolutely fantastic!!

This is one of my favorite listens of 2022 so far, and already on my repeat listen list. Loved it!!! This enemies to lovers, fake relationship checks so many boxes and starts out with sparks flying as Rose and Miles spar and throw shade at each other. As neighbors and the only 2 people on their floor it is impossible to avoid one another. Miles is definitely a sexy man I'll be keeping around in my book boyfriend list... He is a playboy in the hot seat with an image problem and threatened inheritance. He is just the right amount of complexity with the brooding, seemingly carefree playboy masking the deeply charming & thoughtful man with a deep well of potential! Rose is that strong woman who is busy and driven, assumed by many to be boring. She is the girl next door who stays out of trouble and keeps to herself. When the circumstances change the forced proximity and requirements of carrying out a fake relationship to the rest of the world means they get to know each other. One of my favorite things about this book is how the depth of character for both of them is peeled back in layers with beautiful precision. They don't know what hit them before they are already lost to each other. Of course, it can't be easy. Throw in plenty of stubbornness, misunderstanding, assumptions, and miscommunication and you have beautiful chaos.

Brilliant performances by Jason Clarke and Samantha Brentmoor!! I am very narrator motivated, so I definitely picked this book because of Jason and Samantha. Jolie is also a favorite Author, so 1-clicking this was a no brainer for me. Loved everything about this book!

A Balance of Steam and Swoon, Spoiler Alert

Spoiler Alert: I rank this book up there with Talon. I love the fake relationship genre, it just does it for me, never gets old. Jason Clarke, he is wonderful, literally could listen to his voice all day long. Wish I could find him in a duet narration, I would die a happy woman, but I digress. What was good, the fighting pre-move in, so realistic, the sex [ gave me a buzz] and how they discussed their thoughts and feeling for each other pre-27th birthday. What was I love about Miles, he is a guys guy. I love his ink, and I am not a Tatoo person, I generally think they are bad for human skin, but I digress. Miles was realistic in his behavior and thought process, he is a former jock and total bad boy, with money to burn and what I love about Rose is she was smart up until the end, she is a little prudish and uptight but Miles was right she had not had sex in two years. They were both trust fund babies but Rose's job could not keep her in her apartment, but she is the Marketing Director for a major Cosmetics Company? That does not make sense. Maybe I do not appreciate how much her mortgage was? She is a workaholic anti-socialite whose best friend is a socialite. She volunteers at an Animal Shelter? Workaholics don't have time to volunteer. Then the whole I'm dropping off the face of the Earth because I am in love with you but don't try to find me is just stupid. I literally stopped listening at that point, I would have liked more development with the romance, like going places, to the resort that are unique for instance. Give that the same attention given to the guys going to a biker only strip club.
I wish she had done more with their day to day and more on the Ducati.

The only thing that I did not like at all was the typical, I can't discuss my feelings because I am afraid of rejection. Rose and Miles must be the kids who grew up with the participation awards. The discussion with Miles and his father on his birthday was perfect, logical and loving. The fact that Miles did not see his mother that day was just messed up. Miles and Jules only meet once but he knew to call her to find Rose. Does that ring true, about Rose's best friend. Rose never told Miles that Jules knows the fake relationship thing, also odd. Over all I would recommend this book, the excellent parts are swoony and you can get past the other parts. Miles is like Talon, totally sexy just better educated and more sophisticated, Rose is a stronger Asia but not a dominatrix. The wedding part, while I'm happy they got married, I could have done without it. Jules running when Rose screams like domestic violence is occurring, not what a waste.

Whose relationship would I like to see next, Jules and Daemon. That would be interesting, the self made man and the trust fund baby. Hopefully Jolie Day will write that, I will read it. Am I going to read Oliver's story yes!

Wonderful

This is the first book that I have listened to by this author and I really enjoyed it. Yes the fake romance trope has been done before but there was something about these characters that made it feel fresh and exciting.
