Rachel's life jumps from one bad situation to the next with so many twists and turns it will give you whip lash! The past comes back to bite her in the a** in more ways than one!!!

I feel sorry for the narrator of this but I have to be honest - the lack of continuity on voices, pronunciation and character styles was shocking! I found myself shouting out loud and correcting her, once my brain worked out who she was on about! And the pixies sounded like they escaped Disneyland, hurt my ears in places. Only listened to the end once I knew the original narrator returns in the best book and I didn't want to miss important plots. Longest 16 hours of my life!

I have enjoyed the previous books in this series. However, beware that the narrator on this book is different to that than of the previous volumes. Although she is not bad, I found the differences in pronunciation and the accents/voices for the characters to be so different as to be rather off-putting.

Didn’t care for this narrator at all! Glad it’s only this one book. I almost just skipped this book, but sooo glad I powered through it. A real turning point in the series. The story is a must listen. Big surprises & turns for Rachel.
Narrator pronounced names & words differently and Janx’s voice is ear piercing horrific!

Can’t wait to start next book and be back with Marguerite’s characters.

Where does Rachel Morgan: The Hollows (6) - Where Demons Dare rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've been on a Rachel Morgan bender, Having been following this from book 1 -5 as my previous five books, and now on book six.

The narrator isn't bad, but she just feels wrong, Jenks voice is badly chosen - you need to be able to say 'tinks knickers' and mean it (apologies for the coarse language to any pixies reading this)

Halfway through I checked who would be reading book 7 and was pleased to see it was the book 1-5 lady - but it is rather telling that I was considering not bothering with 7.

The jarring narrator change wasn't all that bothered me, Several unresolved issues from previous books, - the blood balance in particular- need to be resolved, or at least if they aren't stop having long monologues where Rachel worries about the situation. Such exposition might be needed for people reading the books out of sequence but it became a drag.

Al the demon. Its about time the guy got a break, he's not all bad.. Well OK he's all bad, but I am sure he has feelings too,

Have you listened to any of Gigi Birmingham’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No, she doesn't seem to have done any, I'm sure she'd be fine, and I might have liked her more here if she wasn't following so quickly after I'd listened to 1-5

This was the weakest book in the series by far, I'm hopeful book 7 picks up and gets back to the standards of 1 - 5

Change of narrator is a problem.

Iv been listening to all the Rachel morgan books back to back. The stories flow really well, with no massive jumps in time. But this book has just upset the flow of the whole series. The story is good, but the narrator is so annoying it's hard to get past it and pay attention to the content. This is such a change, names are pronounced so differently it's hard to place the characters, the cadence and nuances that characters had were obliterated, as the voices didn't match the characters. Even the pronunciation of the main use of magic was mispronounced. I found my self. Correcting the narrator though out the book.

Very poor choice to change narrator, luckily the next boomk it's back to the usual person. I'm not saying the narrator is bad, just the sudden change throws it all off. Worth listening to to be able to follow the story to the next book.

Horrifying narrator

The story was really good. I'd say this is a turning point in the series for it getting soooo much better.
Biggest disappointment was the narrator. She wasn't terrible (exept the voice for jenks - so ear pearcing) but I was used to and liked the other narrator.
On some of the chapters, where it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, there's a good 10 seconds of music which I found really distracting.

For whatever reason the usual narrator wasn't used this time, and she has a ... different interpretation of several character names. She also pronounces leyline to rhyme with beeline which is super annoying given this book uses that word a lot.

There's also a bizarre choice to use an instrumental piece at random points, sometimes in the middle of a conversation so not even to give a sense of time passing.

Still they go back to the usual narrator after this book so it is worth suffering through to continue the series

Minor annoyances can't ruin great story

The story is brilliant but I didn’t like this narrator. She said the names and words different to the previous one, I found it very distracting and the random music bits to the parts she found needed it were irritating.. I’ve looked ahead and found the other narrator is carrying on with future books or I would be continuing on in print.
