Summary

A beautiful nurse. A lethal injection. A gruesomely charred corpse.

Nothing could have shocked the sleepy community of Morgantown, West Virginia, more than the lurid details that surfaced after a house fire claimed the life of Shelly Michael's husband, Jimmy. Local authorities suspected possible arson. Then they discovered that Jimmy had been dead before the fire even started - paralyzed by a fatal dose of muscle relaxant....

Did Shelly Michael, a respected nurse and mother, kill her second husband and torch her own home? Were the rumors true that she'd had an affair with her husband's employee only two weeks before the murder? Or did she kill Jimmy simply for the insurance money? Charged with first-degree murder and first-degree arson, Shelly would never stop claiming her innocence - even to this day.

First Rate

Stunning storytelling from john glatt. Im working my way through john glatt books. What she did was so senseless and depraved. Murder seems to be the new divorce. Author drew me me, kept me gripped from start to finish. Shaun grindell is one of my favourire narrators, his performance was flawless. Would highly recommend.

Neverending

if you want a long long long long long drawn out story that you know the ending from the into. also I skipped to the 16th chapter because I didn't want to hear about everyone's back story. I stopped listening at chapter 45. I couldn't take it any more. true crime garage does a episode on this murder, it's 45 min long and great. just go listen to that.

As a Nurse myself I can say this nurse is "DUMB!"

From one Nurse to another Nurse who is rotting in prison.....When the Pathologist does a Toxicology screen......next time understand that he is going to check for Rocuronium!!! Her husband is still in his bed, didn't move as the fire burned. No foul play here. How she thought she would get away w/Murder, an affair and everything else is beyond me. Moral of the story...There's a new legal process out there....DIVORCE.

All the detail you could want

I've seen the TV versions of this story, and this book is so, so much more thorough. The presentation of the story, the depictions of the main characters and the details of the investigation and the trial are great. People who like getting into the weeds of stories like this are going to be riveted by it; others who prefer a bird's eye view, not so much. I also enjoyed the measured pace of the narration. It was easy to tell from the writing that the book wasn't written by an American, and having a British narrator seemed appropriate and after a while I didn't even notice it. This audiobook exceeded my expectations.

Wonderful

This was a great book, takes a minute to understand the players but you will if you hang in there and once you know you won’t be able to stop listening. A must listen. Money well spent
