About this listen
Greg DeVillers was a top biotech executive, and Kristin Rossum was embarking on a career in toxicology at the San Diego Medical Examiner's office. They seemed to be happily married, living the American dream. But only months shy of their second anniversary, Kristin found her handsome husband dead from a drug overdose - his corpse sprinkled with rose petals. By his side was their wedding photo. The scene was reminiscent of American Beauty, one of Kristin's favorite movies. Authorities deemed it a suicide.
Until they discovered that the rare poison found in Greg's body was the same poison missing from Kristin's office. Until they discovered the truth about Kristin's lurid affair, about her own longtime drug addiction, and about the personal and professional secrets she would kill to keep hidden - secrets that would ultimately expose the beautiful blonde as the deadly beauty she really was...a deadly American beauty.

Not true crime detective work
This is a biography of an attractive woman who gets injured and gets addicted to drugs and sleeping around. We just follow the case from her point of view which frankly is not really how this is done. We are supposed to look at it from the outside and investige the clues and presentation of them in a trial to then see what happened. Instead we just get a biography that's clearly written with info from her, the killer. Hence we actually understand her less than if it was a critical top-down point of view. I get the point of this sort of storytelling. But I wanted true crime and this is mainly dark biography.

Not at all beautiful
Pretty women expecting exonetion.
Ooo. This woman!!
Cannot understand why she was considered to be such a looker, so beautiful. She was passibly pretty when made up as are we all.
Couldn't find one nice thing about this woman.
Still annoyed that public and the media are taken in by a tiny woman with a pretty face. This judgement by looks and gender needs to stop
Really informative, made me blood boil. Another excellent book by this author

Couldnt put it down ( so to speak)
I devoured this audiobook. John glatt has done it again. A very engaging, thorough, and excellent take on this case. Ive wasted a fair few precious credits on audiobooks, but I can rest easy if its from John glatt. Shaun grindell is on top form as always. Overall I highly reccommend.
