Fantastic
I love how this combination works so well. Meg has written really intriguing characters that are perfect for Victoria to narrate. With attitude and snark these characters give this book a lighter feel. Travis also has a deep tone to his voice that is great.

Playboy King is book one of the new Underworld Bride Trials series by Meg Xuemei X. In it we met Tessa Morrigan, an Ice Fae Queen on a mission to save her world and her people from the brutal God who murdered her family and attempted to force her into a marriage before her escape. She accepts a contract with Lucifer to take out his son, Loki, in hopes of securing herself an army. Upon entering Hell she discovers that winning the Bride Trials and becoming Hell's new Queen will give her the power of Hell fire but what if the fire she's seeking isn't just a power but a person? Get ready for lots of action, excitement, and untamed desire as you follow Tessa and Loki's story. As always, the lovely Victoria Mei does a phenomenal job narrating and though this was my first experience with Travis Baldree, it definitely won't be my last! I cannot wait to listen to the next installment!

Action packed, mystical, hunger games meets bachelorette PNR book
Okay so I’m a huge fangirl of both Meg and Victoria. When these two get together for any audiobook I will be right on it, because it’s guaranteed to be awesome. I went in blind to what this book was about because like I said it’s done by these two gals❣️
I’m totally new to this story and it stands on its own but others mention another series by Meg which I haven’t listened to nor read YET. Those other audiobooks are done by someone else 😳 so yeah I haven’t listened to them yet.
This was another amazing audiobook. Its action packed right from the start with a fierce, yet compassionate warrior Ice Queen. Meg always makes her heroines extremely self sufficient for battles, sexy and fierce too! And Tessa is all that and I can’t wait to see how she gets through the Bride Trials. *I read a review after listening to this audiobook, and that reader stated that The Bride Trials are like Bachelorette meets The Hunger Games, and that says it all in a nut shell!
Tessa is a warrior Queen tasked with bringing Loki’s head to his estranged father Lucifer the old King of the Underworld. But there’s a bit of an issue with her growing attraction to Loki is he really the villain he was told to be by Lucifer. Hmmm, the plot thickens and a twist as well with an evil ex-boyfriend too. Yikes the angst is just starting!
Loki is the residing Playboy King of The Underworld, Marigold’s half brother (the tie in with The Half Blood Academy Series which I haven’t yet read/heard) and the bachelor who is the one who orchestrated The Bride Trials.
With Meg’s books there so much action that you get taken away into mystical situations and places that you lose track of time and you forget everything except for the book. I love that!
There are lots of interesting beings and mystical creatures from every world and realm here in this series, where we will see contestants taking part in a game to become the reigning Queen of The Underworld and married to Loki. But it will mean death for all but the winner of this contest. The battle trials have just begun and there is lots of action.
Tons of secrets abound and the cliffhanger ending just makes me almost climbing the walls for more. But we’re going to have to wait; albeit anxiously; for the next book in the series.
I listened to the audiobook version and like I stated seeing Meg and Victoria on another series together is a grab it now situation but this one is done dual with a new to me narrator Travis Baldee; he’s a great Loki and his deep cadence was great for Loki. Victoria is the ultimate narrator for any book Meg does, of course she rocked Tessa and the other characters that sneak in and out of this book and make me so enthralled with the book. Amazing job again Victoria Mei.
Thank you Meg Xuemei X for writing such awesome worlds that I love to escape into. Thank you Victoria for being that link for me to Meg’s books and thank you Travis for shaking things up with the dual narration. Can’t wait to hear the next audiobook!
