Critic reviews
"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." (AudioFile magazine)

I've learned Portuguese with Pimsleur
These Pimsleur audiobooks have given me a great foundation in Portuguese. I would recommend them to anyone wishing you learn the language - these are easily the best Portuguese audiobooks on Audible. The only downside for me were the reading lessons. I listen on my commute, so the reading lessons were not helpful.

very good
OK, This is working for me and I find it good in my continuing progress of n learning Portuguese.
But that said I have spent a lot of time using another course which give me a lot of practice learning and using the Portuguese grammar.
I have also learned many words (or vocabulary) so using this course I already recognise and know many of the words.
This course is helping me in verbalising and speaking the language and being able to organise and see the words in my mind before speaking. My last course helped me understand the rules of Portuguese but did not help me speak it very well. This course is what I need to speak it and communicate. So yes this is a good course - I think.
You also have the opportunity to go over again and again to practice to your satisfaction before moving on.

ok but to basic
was expecting a more immersive course. limits itself to simplified repetitions by the end of the course you learn six or seven basic sentences but have no better understanding of the language structure.
not intuitive, more of a "donde está la biblioteca" type courses you took in the 80s. not how languages are learnt.

Learn fast, and easy.
The Pimsleur layout is perfect. All you have to do is follow along, repeating everything and you'll learn easily. Each lesson is 30mins long and should be heard 2-3 times on the same day. The next day you do the same with the next lesson. I love it,

good program
this has been the best self study I have used to date. I am able to do one lesson twice a day on my commute. it is not to basic nor overloading. the lessons build on each other. I currently soak Portuguese but needed a refresher as I have not used the language regularly in over 15 years.

great way to learn!
the methods used in this book are great. they make you work to remember basic, yet useful words, and phrases. anytime I want to learn a new language I use this! I learn during my bus ride or when I'm driving to work. enjoy!

In my book speaking is first and fundamental!
I give the Pimsleur Brazilian Portuguese five stars because it is one of the few language courses that puts you immediately into a scenario where you have to speak, rather than read or learn grammar, in learning a new language. I have learned to speak to an intermediate level the languages of French and Tagalog with ease of remembrance. It has helped me in short trips to France and the Philippines. These courses work the voice and get one talking. Learning the rest (vocabulary, grammar, and deeper levels) come from speaking to natives, buying the 501 Verbs books, and studying the culture. If one is serious to start speaking first, with the rest over time, I can't think of another method to get anyone going.

Fantastic
Really great way to learn to speak a language and be able to converse. My family can’t believe how much I can converse after just 5 lessons and I don’t have great recall for words.
