About this listen
Our friendship began one windy day in 1982, outside Finsbury Park tube. It was an instant like at first sight. We were on our way to a Wham! rehearsal. Pepsi was the new girl in the band and over a car stereo, a cassette tape and that journey to Bushey we bonded. We had no idea that we were on the first of many journeys together and that soon we'd be travelling all over Europe, Australia, America, China and Japan. Or that no matter where we went, together, we'd find a way to make every exotic destination feel like home.
We'd both been teenagers during the seventies – a dreary and difficult decade, especially if you were young in London and you didn't have much money.
So, in 1982, anything was possible for us – a pair of twentysomethings who hadn't been to university, who didn't have any money, who dreamt of singing and dancing, but ultimately lived for fun. Everything felt new and life was a question mark. We had no idea what was lying ahead, but we wanted to say yes.
What we didn't know was that we were saying yes to a lifetime of connection that has endured whatever we've done, wherever we've been. From the side of the stage to its centre – we have many stories to tell.
And it's all here, it's all in black and white.©2021 Pepsi DeMacque-Crockett and Shirlie Kemp (P)2021 Welbeck Publishing

Loved the Pepsi and Shirlie storyline. proper 80's nostalgia. Loved hearing about the early Wham days and how the band got together.

Wham fans have to read or listen to this book
I absolutely loved listening to this book about Pepsi and Shirlie from Wham. Being a Wham fan myself, this was a must read. It is well narrated by the ladies themselves. Quite emotional at one part I have to admit. I definitely recommend this.

Thank you for this gem !
This is a brilliant book - I was not a fan but intrigued about there lives
This must have taken a lot of hard work and dedication .
Worth the wait for a biography where people actually have history and a fascinating life - but there feet are still well and truly on the ground !

Wish Shirley done her own book
Really wanted to enjoy this book, cos I grew up in that era and it was a fun time, the book was totally ruined for me by Pepsi just making everything about race. She even said an old lady asked her the time on the bus. When she answered , the old lady said ‘oh don’t you speak well’ Pepsi then goes in to say that the old lady really meant, didn’t she speak well for a darkie. Her words. How does she know the old lady meant that? Real shame that something that should have been a nice bit of fun nostalgia was ruined by Pepsi continually making it about race.

Poor narration
Interesting but Pepsi’s delivery is really bad, doesn’t read her sentences properly, which had me giving up after a few chapters.
