Summary

It's a beautiful day in Manchester, and four friends are meeting for a birthday lunch. But then they witness a shocking accident just metres away which acts as a catalyst for each of them.

For Laura, it's a wake-up call to heed the ticking of her biological clock. Sensible Jo finds herself throwing caution to the wind in a new relationship. Eve, who has been trying to ignore the worrying lump in her breast, feels helpless and out of control. And happy-go-lucky India is drawn to one of the victims of the accident, causing long-buried secrets to rise to the surface.

This is a story about the startling and unexpected turns life can take. It's about luck - good and bad - and about finding bravery and resilience when your world is in turmoil. Above all, it's about friendship, togetherness and hope.

Exclusive to the audiobook, On a Beautiful Day contains a unique Q&A session between the author and her editor.

Much Better Than Expected

This is not the type of book I'd usually go for but I'm so glad I listened to it. I felt like I made four new friends and was totally immersed in their worlds from the outset. The believable stories, lacking in the usual melodrama, made me think about my own life and relationships. This was a great book and I'll definitely be looking for more Lucy Diamond books in the future.

Somewhat depressing. Didn't finish it.

I was disappointed by this as I usually love Lucy Diamond. Difficult subject matters unfortunately.

Great characters

Great characters and as a Mancunian a great read as I could visualise the city.

Nice story

It was nice, but not gripping I’m afraid. I love Lucy Diamond, but this one was just nice. Well narrated and a happy ending.

Amazing story

I absolutely loved this book. It was moving and beautifully written. I wish could forget and listen to it all over again. I will definitely look for all Lucy Diamond's books. The narration was perfect too.

Great holiday read

Good story, great characters with the right amount of dramas. I could imagine being friends with the women in the story. As in real life they all have a story to tell even though they look sorted from the outside. I really enjoyed this book.

Thought provoking

I really enjoyed this book, and loved how the characters developed. In parts it’s very moving, and I surprised myself by getting tearful in parts. Narrator is perfect . I’d highly recommend .

A really good listen

Any additional comments?

Enjoyed this book so much that I tweeted the author - sounds really sad, but I felt compelled to do so. The setting was in Manchester and, being a true Manc, she summed up our City perfectly. Storyline involved several characters all were realistic and all had their own stories that weren't complicated.
