Summary
After a devastating political assassination, two journalists stand between the truth and a conspiracy that will shock the world.
Tom Novak and Stella Mitchell are covering the aftermath of a chilling terror attack on the British Prime Minister and the US Secretary of Defense. But the further the American and English duo investigate, the more holes they find in the official version of events.
When they link the attack to a series of suspicious deaths the night before, Novak and Mitchell find themselves the next targets in an extraordinary conspiracy involving the White House, the British government, and a shadowy deep-state organization.
With help from a maverick CIA officer and a whistleblower within British Intelligence, Novak and Mitchell must risk everything to track down the one source who can break their story and expose the shocking truth. On the run for their lives, they will find out just how far those in power are willing to go to preserve their secrets...
An Amazon UK No.1 bestseller for three straight months, Official Secrets is packed with globetrotting action and rollercoaster twists.
If you like David Baldacci and BBC's Line of Duty and Bodyguard, this addictive series will leave you telling yourself ‘just another chapter'.

Staccato narration made this a hard listen
I persevered with the book but in all honesty the story got lost in the constantly urgent, staccato narration. It’s a shame as it’s probably the opening book of a good series however the readers style is too “1940’s BBC newsreader” for me. I prefer the tone to match the story with varied pace, emphasis and inflection.

Just brilliant!
I was sceptical as to whether I would be able to keep up with this detailed and “edge of your seat” book, but it is so well written and narrated that it just flew by.
I’m so pleased that I have found this writer and look forward to his other books with relish.
The only change I made was to turn the narration speed down very slightly to .95 which enabled me not to feel quite so breathless when listening.

Page-turner
Quite a complex plot but narrated brilliantly and I couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the next in series.

Love it
This is really good. Once you get over the narrator robotic voice.
Then you will enjoy!!

Great story, good narration
Found it a little hard to follow at times (would be easier in paper), yet gripping. Narration isn’t the most inspired I’ve heard, but still good.

Great story
Great fast paced story with loads of action. Unfortunately, the performance was really off putting. Very robotic and distracting

Averagely decent
It’s a pretty standard thriller. Not bad but none of the characters really stood out for me -especially the women. Extra points to the narrator for his Alec Guinness does Smilie impression.

Intriguing plot and premise
Well-written and engaging political/spy thriller. Just the job if that’s what you’re in the mood for.

Excellent
My initial impressions were not too great. I found the narrator spoke too quickly and I felt rushed and a bit exasperated.
However, once I got the rhythm, I thought the narration spot on and the storyline compelling, even if a little far fetched (I hope!).

difficult listen.
didn't not like the tone of narators voice. I'm sure that the author wanted it thus but it was a really turn off for me. I couldn't listen any further that 2nd chapter so can't say if I like it.
