Summary

After a devastating political assassination, two journalists stand between the truth and a conspiracy that will shock the world.

Tom Novak and Stella Mitchell are covering the aftermath of a chilling terror attack on the British Prime Minister and the US Secretary of Defense. But the further the American and English duo investigate, the more holes they find in the official version of events.

When they link the attack to a series of suspicious deaths the night before, Novak and Mitchell find themselves the next targets in an extraordinary conspiracy involving the White House, the British government, and a shadowy deep-state organization.

With help from a maverick CIA officer and a whistleblower within British Intelligence, Novak and Mitchell must risk everything to track down the one source who can break their story and expose the shocking truth. On the run for their lives, they will find out just how far those in power are willing to go to preserve their secrets...

An Amazon UK No.1 bestseller for three straight months, Official Secrets is packed with globetrotting action and rollercoaster twists.

If you like David Baldacci and BBC's Line of Duty and Bodyguard, this addictive series will leave you telling yourself ‘just another chapter'.

Staccato narration made this a hard listen

I persevered with the book but in all honesty the story got lost in the constantly urgent, staccato narration. It’s a shame as it’s probably the opening book of a good series however the readers style is too “1940’s BBC newsreader” for me. I prefer the tone to match the story with varied pace, emphasis and inflection.

Just brilliant!

I was sceptical as to whether I would be able to keep up with this detailed and “edge of your seat” book, but it is so well written and narrated that it just flew by.
I’m so pleased that I have found this writer and look forward to his other books with relish.

The only change I made was to turn the narration speed down very slightly to .95 which enabled me not to feel quite so breathless when listening.

Page-turner

Quite a complex plot but narrated brilliantly and I couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the next in series.

Cracking thriller

Great story, which kept me gripped from start to finish. Seemingly very believable, and exciting, storyline seen through the eyes of journalists and agents alike. The only issue was the narrator's very fast paced reading, but nothing that the Audible app couldn't solve with 0.9x speed!

Good fun

Fast paced, slightly ridiculous but good fun. And well read. That's all I've got really!

Great story, good narration

Found it a little hard to follow at times (would be easier in paper), yet gripping. Narration isn’t the most inspired I’ve heard, but still good.

a real mystery thriller.

Nice twisty story but easy to follow with good characters and a good, believable end.

Would make good TV drama

Very laboured narration which made for a very tedious listen. However, the story would make a good tv drama. if I had been able to get my credit refunded i would have done. Narration can make or break a book and this one broke the book unfortunately.

Underwhelming ending

Lacking a satisfactory ending. I was hoping for a more dramatic ending. Boring ending in my book.
