Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

From the internationally bestselling author of Netflix's hot show, One of Us Is Lying, comes an unstoppable thriller...

True crime can leave a false trail.

Four years ago, Brynn left Saint Ambrose School following the shocking murder of her favourite teacher. The case was never solved, but she's sure that the three kids who found Mr. Larkin's body know more than they're telling, especially her ex-best friend Tripp Talbot. He's definitely hiding something.

When Brynn gets an internship working on a popular true-crime show, she decides to investigate what really happened that day in the woods. But the further she dives into the past, the more secrets she finds.

Four years ago someone got away with murder. Now it's time to uncover the truth...

Critic reviews

"Given that her high-school-based murder mysteries read like bingeworthy Netflix dramas, it's easy to see why queen of teen crime Karen McManus is a best seller on both sides of the Atlantic." (The Observer)

Not as good as previous books

A decent listen, but not on par with Karens previous books. Found it a little predictable. However, I flew through it within a few days so still enjoyable. Wouldn’t put me off listening to future books either.

Too Many Red Herrings

Too many red herrings compared to Bayview Crew trilogy. Besides that, it's a great book.

Amazing as expected

I’ve read all of Karen’s books and I didn’t expect anything other than an amazing story with a plot twist, the killer was completely unexpected and I love that. I definitely recommend!

4.5 stars

I listened to this as an audiobook rather than read it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I have all of Karen McManus' books.
It kept me guessing all the way through and I did not guess the ending at all.

Another great read from McManus

The novel and the performance were great, as expected. A bit predictable, but I like the style so I’m okay with that.

Not my favourite

So sad about this one as I’ve really enjoyed Karen McManus’s other stories. I found this story quite flat and just couldn’t connect with the characters.
